I wouldn’t say this is full-range Vietnamese cuisine. It’s more of the quick, popular Vietnamese dishes that are easy to make and familiar to people who haven’t tried Vietnamese food before. A lot of the food seems to sit out for a while (at least from appearance), so it doesn’t seem like things get rotated super frequently, which is a bit disappointing.
The sugar cane drink my mom had tasted, in her words, like the glucose drink you get when you’re pregnant (lol). And the yogurt was extremely sweet.
This place isn’t terrible, but it’s also not really worth the money if you’re expecting high-quality or freshly made dishes. It is a good spot if you’re coming with large groups to hang out, eat, drink, and socialize. (They have a bar!) But if you’re a foodie or someone who’s picky about freshness and flavor, you’ll probably want to look elsewhere.
Service was a bit rude & slow but whatever ♀️. (Still gave them 18% cash tip though )
Come if you are wanting to eat all Viet food. Otherwise you will be disappointed.
It is close to 1 he drive for me. So I would only come back if I absolutely crave a lot of Viet food.
Service: can’t complain. We got what was needed for party of 8. However, the young staff are too loud and playful around us and customers. Yet, they do as expected for buffet. Just a little immature staff or need some etiquette or training.
Atmosphere: looks good from outside, like a buffet in Las Vegas. Clean. Staff was getting food along with us to eat. Seems there is always staff eating somewhere. Don’t bring your date.
I’ve tried Kim Sơn many times in Houston and very glad to have another option (long overdue). The foods I could try today had very good seasoning and texture (e.g. the ribs were tender). I can see they try to keep the foods warm with heat and lid, which is great. Please keep this up as people love warm food.
Desserts were good too. I got yogurt, Sugarcane, chè, and chocolate eclaire… They were good (yogurt could be less sweet, but at least it had the tartness which is good).
Staff were attentive and helpful. Hot buns were given out today when they were fresh out of the oven. Customers including myself enjoyed it.
Please keep up the good work (and keep it open please)! Will come back hopefully soon (as I live quite far).
Overall, I would say that the food had decent to good flavor. Unfortunately, the food suffered from either sitting out too long (many of the self serve items – sad cause the chicken wings would have been excellent if it wasn’t soggy), over cooking (lobster, crab, and shrimp were mush, carving station steak was tough, etc), or seasoning (noodle soups that I tried – bbh & bánh canh – were super sweet, braised fish was barely seasoned). My biggest gripe was that it didn’t seem like they knew how to clean their seafood as I got sand in several bites of clam and snail that I just couldn’t finish what I got despite liking the taste.
This was not a $43 per person experience. I can’t see myself returning if the quality remains as is.
The variety of food was impressive, and they were very generous with the portions. Most importantly, the staff were all incredibly friendly, polite, and attentive. Their service was absolutely top-notch and deserves to be highly commended!
Unfortunately, the quality of the food was generally poor. My friends and I tried almost everything, and we all agreed. The crab legs were good but way too salty, some batches were salty and others were devoid of salt, the lobster meat was tough, and the popcorn chicken was so hard it was difficult to chew. The fried rice was dry and flavorless, and the taro dessert tasted like it came from a can and had a strange, sour taste. The only two things we genuinely enjoyed were the clams and the soup from the street food stall.
Different wave of same food were seasoned differently
To summarize, it’s very overpriced for the food quality. The excellent service, however, was a definite highlight.
I also have one suggestion for the restaurant: please don’t seat customers next to the staff’s designated area. Throughout our entire meal, we had people—both adults and children—constantly walking back and forth. It was impossible to have a relaxing meal. Other customers even seemed to mistake the area for the restroom.
I’ve been here four times now with different family members and friends, and every visit has been consistently good. The staff is always super friendly, attentive, and quick to help, and the restaurant is clean, spacious, and welcoming. It’s a great place for family gatherings or celebrations, with a big variety of dishes for everyone to enjoy — from seafood and hot dishes to fresh fruits and desserts.
And let’s be honest — a bowl of pho and a drink these days can already cost almost $20, so for what you get here, the price is more than fair. You can enjoy all-you-can-eat seafood, crab, lobster,, and so many Vietnamese favorites without feeling rushed or crowded.
Overall, excellent food, great service, and an atmosphere that feels warm and genuine. Totally worth the drive from Rockwall, and I’ll definitely be back again soon!
Everything’s well worth the drive from Bedford. I’ll definitely keep coming back!
