We traveled 5 hours to this spot from Louisville, KY and boy was it worth it! EVERYTHING pictured was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. I put 3 starts for service because we did arrive an hour before close on a Sunday. At 1st I thought the guy just had a long day and was short with us, but after tallomg to him, he was really nice. I saw the reaction of a couple of locals to his short and direct answers as well. I just want that to be noted, so you’re prepared. Know that he is not being rude. He’s just hard working and direct. We will return for some beef ribs and to try the green beans!

The owner of this place is my new Smoked Meat Hero! The Mrs and I came in for lunch one day after many times saying “We should go there sometime”. Now we cant wait to go back!! The brisket melts in your mouth, the pulled pork was fantastic, the pasta for the mac & cheese is cavatappi (a personal favorite) and the sauce, while amazing, was not at all necessary because everything tasted perfect as-is. We got there at noon and were eating by 12:06, and we didn’t stop talking to each other about how freaking good it was for the next half an hour. We thanked the owner and he thanked us back. Keep up the awesome work brother, we’ll keep coming back as long as your open sign is on!!

I don’t typically give reviews and especially not negative ones, but sometimes it’s necessary.
I Have been wanting to try this place based on reviews. Which is deceiving because it appears reviews were based on a different BBQ owner/manager/pit boss and not on currently run personnel.
Unfortunately, was very disappointed. I don’t think this place should be allowed to keep prior ratings because when you pull up 1st thing you see is the place is under new management and on a Saturday evening there was not a soul in site & the food quality was poor.
The brisket was completely undercooked and tough. Clearly the person cooking doesn’t know about collagen and how to break it down
The ribs were overcooked, dry and whoever cooked these definitely did not know how to control the fire. Before even taking a bite I could tell they must’ve been sitting in some dirty smoke & after biting into it was clearly bitter with a slight coating and not in a good way.
Pulled pork was edible and just ok in the sandwich.
Mac-n-cheese was not good. It was more of a pasta in a flavored cream sauce – hard to describe, but like a poorly flavorless chili Mac would be the best way to describe it.
Again hate to give negative reviews but the ratings were deceiving because even the pictures of sides do not match what I received. & people/customers should know what they are buying. They should change pictures and reset review ratings for new management/owners to start from scratch.

Absolutely delicious! Second trip here and got the bowl with pulled pork! Martiny’s is a fantastic, local joint and a must-stop for your next meal. Make sure to get there early because they WILL sell out because of popularity. Owner himself works his butt off and makes it happen for his customers! May seem to have a harsh exterior but is just a hardworking, friendly introvert. Highly recommend!

This BBQ joint was absolutely amazing. I grabbed the brisket combo with mac and cheese and baked beans. The brisket was made to perfection and some of the best I’ve had in Columbus, Ohio. A good mix of fatty and lean that was full of flavor. It was so good that I didn’t even need the BBQ sauce. The mac and cheese was great and I enjoyed the baked beans also. I will definitely stop in again the next time I am in the area.

Hubby found this today, our first time here. I’m still doing vegetarian, so ordered the mac n cheese and coleslaw. Hubby got the hot dog, and pulled pork meal with coleslaw and baked beans. I really enjoyed the coleslaw, sweet with a slight tang and had to stop myself from eating all the mac n cheese! Hubby loved his as well. Said the pork flavor was good and could stand alone. Said the beans were really good and the hotdog rivaled the gourmet places. The inside is small, but business seemed steady. Really recommend stopping by and giving it a try!

Absolutely delicious food and great service! Try all the meats! All the sides are delicious but the beans are my favorite. The smoker goes all night for fresh and authentic BBQ. While all sauces were good, I prefer the mustard! The cabin ambience was quaint and casual.

I called before we trekked up there from Westerville and no one answered. I was excited to try the new place, so my husband FaceTimed me from inside the restaurant because I wanted to know what “everything” was in the $35 kitchen sink.

I heard the man working day “everything we sell”. We decided to go that way. The 2 items I was most interested in, were not included. I really wanted the chicken and cauliflower. Had I been told what “everything” actually was- I would have gotten the potato with cauliflower and my hubs would have gotten a box.

They don’t have a lot of healthy options for sides, so I knew I wouldn’t be eating them. My hubs said the coleslaw tasted like it wasn’t scratch made. I tried a small amount of the German potato salad and it was lackluster and too sweet, but we have another restaurant in the area that hits this item out of the park consistently so I’m probably used to their recipe. The baked beans were – baked beans, nothing spectacular, nor was the Mac and cheese.

We got a bonus piece of cardboard in the pulled pork (shown in the photos).

It he spare ribs were very fatty. The pulled pork was good. The brisket had a lot of flavor.

My husband enjoyed the different sauces and that was the highlight of the meal for him.

I was surprised they didn’t offer any bread with this meal. I would suggest having some healthier side items as options, green beans, collards, or salad maybe.

I did try calling again, but it went to voicemail again and a man left his name, not the name of the restaurant so I did not feel comfortable leaving my phone number in case the number listed is incorrect.

I would say my experience overall was 2.5.

I stopped in on a whim running errands up and down US-23. I couldn’t have been more impressed. I was met by Mike the owner and he was the only one in the place. On his recommendation, I tried one of their meat boxes where I got a half pound of brisket with two sides and then also ordered a side of burnt ends, because why not? From the mac & cheese and baked beans to the different meats and their three different sauces I am beyond thrilled that I stopped in to find this little hidden gem. Especially as the north side of Columbus becomes more and more commercialized and developed, being able to find a little mom and pop place like this that does it right with old-school methods and a taste that can’t be rushed or faked. The quality of the food and overall experience was equaled only by the warmth of the greeting and conversation I had with Mike while I enjoyed one hell of a lunch. Thanks for doing what you do, Mike and I’ll be sure to be back with friends!

Martiny’s BBQ is a true hidden gem tucked away on SR23. The rustic charm of this spot immediately sets the tone for an authentic BBQ experience. I ordered the brisket sandwich and added a side of baked beans, which came out to $20—well worth every penny.

The brisket was melt-in-your-mouth tender, with just the right balance of smoky flavor and a perfectly caramelized bark. The sandwich was generously portioned, ensuring every bite was packed with flavor. As for the baked beans, they were a standout on their own—rich, slightly sweet, and perfectly seasoned, complementing the brisket beautifully.

What truly elevates Martiny’s BBQ is the sense of care in every dish. Whether you’re a BBQ enthusiast or just passing through, this is one stop you don’t want to miss. It’s proof that some of the best meals can be found off the beaten path.
