Social Profile:

Suavecito Birria and Tacos is a collaboration between chefs Emma Villalon and Bulmaro Maldonado along with local restaurateurs Randy Magpantay and Jeremy Cheng. Inspired by the working family meals the group has shared over the years, Suavecito showcases the personal touch and elevated preparations of the comfort foods we love. After years of working at various restaurants throughout the bay area, the group officially came together years ago at William Jay Corporate Catering and Winner Winner Chicken in San Mateo. Spending hours together in the kitchen, the group quickly evolved into a working family where Emma and Bulmaro would create the great family meals that are loved by the whole staff.

Suavecito Birria & Tacos is literally a hole in a wall! There is no dining area, all it is, is a counter on an outside wall of some building. But I had a really good burrito, it’s called the 24k Burrito. 24k because it’s golden flavors wrapped in a golden foil. This style of burrito is mostly just meat cheese and guacamole, no rice or beans, which means it’s very tasty! I had the al pastor, very good. They have a branch in SF with dining but this place is the original in San Mateo.

Wow! What an amazingly delicious meal and they had me at Birria! I ordered the burrito bowl with birria, red rice, refried beans and avocado! Everything was super tasty, portions were generous and the salsas were beyond good!

I eat a lot of Mexican food across the country and this is some of the best!

Staff were great, owners Paul and Jeremy (also the chef) were on hand and welcomed me like a brother!

If you’re downtown SF, give this new place a try!

Highly recommend!

I stumbled onto this place while working at a job in San Mateo. I was super hungry and did a search for breakfast burrito around me.

I’m so grateful to have found this tiny hole in the wall burrito spot. It’s clearly smaller operation cause they have zero seating. It appears to focus more on instant stream of delivery driver showing up to this place.

Clearly that’s for good reason. The guy working in the door helped me place an order for something that he thought I would like having not met me before ever and oh my God it was great.

The place look really clean. Food was super fresh. The burrito was like the size of my arm

I took like six bites of it and put nowhere near the end of the food by Dog was very excited at the idea that he might get some

Totally recommend this spot again

Love the garlic prawns they have here — very unique protein option. Their California Burrito is the best you’ll find in NorCal.

Only downside is the high price, hence 4 stars. I think it’s like $19.70 for the Cali Burrito, then another $1.75 if you go for the prawns instead of standard protein. After tax, that’s $23.51 for a burrito… It’s definitely pricey for what it is, but unfortunately for me, it’s very delicious so I’m a repeat customer.

Updating my review: Been coming here the past three years from south Florida and this is my favorite quesabirria I’ve had in my life! I come here every multiple times whenever I’m here on vacation. Tried extra cheese on the tacos this time and it was the best! I also love the side of hot chili oil to add to the consommé for spiciness and the tacos are stuffed with juicy flavorful meat but still have the perfect crunch to them!! The guac is also soo delicious and fresh. Can’t wait to come back next time for more.

Found this hole-in-a-wall takeout taco place while in the area and was excited to try their birria dishes.

The quesobirra tacos were good, but quite soft by the time we got home, which made it hard to dip into the consommé without everything falling apart. I actually enjoyed it more with the salsa verde, which helped cut through the richness.

The nachos were also mostly soggy as well, and found the birria meat itself didn’t seem to have much flavour. The other tacos and 24k burrito was okay.

Very friendly service, just didn’t hit the mark for me, especially at the higher price point for tacos.

Y’all… this place got really good burritos. We keep ordering door dash from here for their 24K Burrito (2nd time) today. This time, I added the chips and salsa too. The spicy salsa has a good kick, but not too spicy where you can’t taste the other spices. The burrito is huge, with avocado, tater tots, and alot of meat — I think Al pastor. It’s wrapped in aluminum foil and gold foil. The chip bag and salsa cup has cute and good packaging. I want to come by one day to try the Birria tacos/pizza!!

I got the 24k burrito birria. Toppings were good a fresh birria was but salty in my opinion and unfortunately made the burrito very soggy.
Burrito was big, but paying 23$ for a burrito is to much for the flavor and hype. The orange sauce wasn’t spicy or anything special. Place is over priced and over hype. 1 time visit is enough for me

Let’s cut straight to it—Suavecito Birria & Tacos is ridiculously good. Whether you’re rolling in for the first time or debating that second order, go ahead and send it.

Pictured Dishes:

Birria Pizza: Yes, you read that right. A pizza stacked with tender birria, fresh pico, radishes, crema drizzle, and a hit of tomatillo avocado salsa on the side. It’s bold, messy, flavorful, and absolutely crushes expectations.

Loaded Fries: Roasted cauliflower, sautéed mushrooms, pico, guac, grilled jalapeños—it’s a veggie-packed punch layered over crispy fries. Every bite hits a different note, and none of them are boring.

Final Word:
This spot gets it. Flavorful, inventive, and just the right amount of street-style chaos. Grab napkins. Grab friends. Then go back for round two.
