We came here with our dog for a Sunday Roast. It was out first time and not our last. The team were all great and the food was fantastic. I had the pork bites to start and my other half had the fish tacos. The starters were both fantastic and the sauce with the pork bites was excellent. For mains we both had the roast beef, which was one of the best I’ve ever had. Cooked pink and full of flavour. It was our anniversary so they gave us some marshmallows to cook over some hot coals, a really clever touch.
We will be back with friends soon!
Highly recommend.

We came here on Saturday night and managed to get a last minute booking.
The Wellhouse is a lovely cosy restaurant serving delicious food in a more relaxed environment.
They were able to cater for my dietary requirements (gluten and dairy free).
The service was good and staff welcoming and friendly.
I would highly recommend this restaurant.

We just ate here and all the food was delicious, from the lamb dishes to the vegetarian plates to the smoking sourdough bread dish. You can tell everything was made with great care. The staff was very kind and attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy and warm. What a special place — one of the very best during a long visit to England. We appreciate the restaurant fitting us in at the last minute, and giving us a happy memory to take back with us to California.

Service from manager and colleague, was good and a nice atmosphere, food was overall poor – pork burnt end were just fat, grease and syrup – really unpleasant , mackerel was great, fish tacos a bit too salty. Main of £130 porterhouse ordered medium and well rested but was undercooked, tough with raw fat, likely from steak not being at room temperature when cooking, grill too hot and not rested long enough, the side of hispi cabbage was inedible as not cooked with core left in and the new season Jersey Royals were clearly cooked earlier in the day and not warmed up. We were comp’d 2 starters after complaining that the toilets were filthy (out or order noticed added shortly after), we were also offered the chance to talk to the chef when leaving which we declined as saw no benefit – we’d spent £226 on 2 courses with wine and service. And whilst it is a bit of theatre, please stop putting hot charcoal on to each course, removing it and leaving nasty gritty bits on everything. Evening held so much promise but despite attentive staff, food was poor. We still paid our 13.5% service charge as not servers fault. It was also amusing to hear the sustainability message surrounded by plastic plants hanging from the beamed ceiling and seeing all the apples and varieties of plums going to waste in the orchards.

The pork was really good and was great portion, chicken was okay for the three pieces on the plate, and fish is not bad however the portion was a joke. For £80, there’s just two small fish fillet, a salad and a side, which is not what you would expect when it is marketed as “to share”. The salad looks more like the main in that sharing board.
It also took us over an hour to get any service or food. Our drink was empty for 20 minutes and tried to get the attention of the staff seems like an impossible task. The manager literally walked passed and ignored our call for service.
One of the staff apologised when we finally caught his attention, but the manager clearly did not care about customers service and made no apologies or recognition in the end.
The food may be ok, but definitely not the service we expected.

We went to the Wellhouse for a family birthday and had a fantastic time. The food was fantastic, and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. All of the staff were very helpful and clearly were proud of the dishes as they explained them to us. The Head Chef invited us into the kitchen to see the wood fired ovens, and was very personable.
Everything about this restaurant was classy but informal.

A magnificent place for enjoying your afternoon tea in a lovely mansion.
Spectacular views on vast green fields, friendly staff, delicious scones and a selection of tea.
Would you like to have a tea party like in the 19th century? You should definitely visit this place.

The food was excellent. The mushroom risotto was one of the best we’ve eaten and the steak was also excellent. The only negative was how long it took between courses.

We had such a exceptional, delicious meal at the Wellhouse tonight. The bao buns and steak were exeptional. The perfect balance of high quality food that doesn’t take itself too seriously made a perfect evening, all locally grown and reared food. Our evening was made even more special by our chef, Charlie, who not only served our food, but also invited us into his kitchen for a personalised tour. Plus, he let us make a valentines wish in the very deep well under the restaurant. Spectacular!. Such a memorable evening made by a fantastic young and passionate chef. Thank you!
