Elegant, warm and incredibly welcoming from the moment you walk in. The service was attentive and informative without feeling overbearing. Every dish was outstanding—we’ll definitely be back!

Must-orders: the shrimp cocktail with horseradish and tomato, tuna ceviche, and the steak (phenomenal). Truffle mashed potatoes and spinach were also absolute standouts.

Our server Greg was thee best!!

We came to Waveny Tavern with high hopes for a nice date night and to try a new local spot, but unfortunately the experience was very disappointing from start to finish.

We had to wait past our reservation time (understandable for a busy Saturday), and it took a while to connect with our waiter. We ordered a bottle of wine and were brought one from a completely different decade than what we selected, and this was not pointed out to us — we had to notice the discrepancy ourselves. For context, we ordered a 2014 Barolo and were brought a 2022. We ultimately chose a different bottle instead, which was not a great start to the evening.

For appetizers, we ordered the “High Ridge Little Gem Caesar Salad,” which contained no gem lettuce and tasted like a basic bagged romaine salad. The “Ahi Tuna Ceviche” was not a ceviche at all, but an extremely spicy tuna tartare. We were confused why both dishes were so different from their menu descriptions.

However, the “Tagliatelle Cacio e Pepe” was the most disappointing dish of the night — the pasta sat in a heavy, gravy-like sauce and the guanciale was completely uncooked rather than crisped and rendered. The dish was inedible. Our waiter apologized, and one of the owners kindly offered to replace it, but after three of our four dishes were poor, we declined.

As a gesture, we were brought dessert, but the chocolate mousse was frozen solid and impossible to eat with our utensils, which only added to the frustration.

Overall, given the pricing and atmosphere, the experience fell far short of expectations. Sadly, we won’t be returning or recommending.

Clàm Chowder and Veal Chop, bone in, were DELICIOUS! Service, as always, was excellent. The interior of The Waveny is beautiful and allows for great service flow. It is obvious that the managèrs ànd owners have suceeded on every detail of the operation. Thank you.

Dined here with my parents tonight and everything about our meal was terrific. Steven provided incredible service – he knew the menu inside and out, and his recommendations were spot on. He made my dad’s night with friendly conversation and ensured that every detail was perfect. The food was delicious – limited but excellent vegetarian options. We loved the rigatoni and be sure to order the ginger sweet potato puree as it is not to be missed! Wine paired perfectly and the Christmas dessert was terrific as well. Loved the ambiance and we’ll certainly return. What a pleasant surprise – we are fortunate to have such a fine place in New Canaan (and with parking to boot!)

We are so spoiled in New Canaan with all of our amazing dining options. Visiting Chef PXK restaurants in NY was like a special occasion experience. Now it’s a weekly, and we love it! Every dish and drink have exceeded expectations, and wine by the glass options are delightful as well. One note is that the dishes come out very fast. If you’re like me and like to enjoy your wine before eating, I’d recommend starting at the bar and then moving to the table. Other than that, the service is very professional while friendly and the waiters are well-versed with the menu. When they recommend something, just say Yes!

The Waveny Bar & Grill is an elegant, vibrant addition to New Canaan’s dining scene. It nails the balance between sophisticated food and friendly atmosphere, making it ideal for celebrations, date nights, or a refined casual night out. The polished service and menu may justify the splurge—just be prepared for a lively crowd on weekends and a bit of traffic noise.

My wife and I went to the Waveny last night for Valentine’s Day. The lobster bisque shot was a novel and delicious opener. For appetizers, we had the wild mushroom risotto with black truffle and cheese and a plate of seared scallops all of which were done to literal perfection.

Finally we had the beef Wellington (which neither of us would normally go for) and it was definitely an elevated version of the classic recipe complete with just a touch of Foie Gras and a very light truffle sauce.

The wait staff and management were all friendly and around when you needed them and we felt taken care of. Overall this was an incredible experience and even as a NYC local with plenty of great local options,, we’re looking forward to making the journey back to the Waveny.

What a treat! They have completely renovated this space, making it warm and welcoming. We came on a Monday night, and we’re immediately greeted and given a table. Our server did a great job answering questions and giving suggestions. We shared a delicious chopped salad and ordered our main dishes. I got the scallops, and my friend ordered the Chilean sea bass. Both were cooked to perfection. Our drinks were amazing, especially the Gallop and Glow. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for amazing food and top-notch customer service. I’m looking forward to my next meal..3/1- just added the Waveny roll and our amazing drinks. Still the best!

Reviewing the newly rebranded Waveny by Peter X. Kelly on their opening night: spectacular in every way. Fans of X2O will find the cowboy ribeye of Iron Chef fame is as good as ever (please bring back the au gratin potatoes). The chawanmushi (Japanese egg custard) is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. The food and service blow away a nearby Michelin eatery by a mile. Bring your family and friends on any occasion!
