Our scratch-American food restaurant is built in a century-old firehouse in Pittsville, Maryland. Boxcar40 has been named Best New Restaurant, Best Hidden Gem and home of the Best Chef on the Shore. Our specialty is house-smoked meat, with a selection of pork ribs, brisket and pulled pork. We are well-known for our homemade barbecue sauces and fresh salads and dressing. Boxcar40 is the home of the Jackass Burger, the mountain of meat, fried egg, fried green tomato, crab dip, bacon, cheese and bacon jam that could easily feed a family of four but most are eaten by only one hungry guest. We specialize in on-site and off-site catering, including weddings and corporate events up to 600 guests on the Eastern Shore.

Delicious food. They have re-done the restaurant since we were here last. It’s nice. I had pork ribs, my husband got pork chop, our friends got brisket and grilled cheese with brisket. It was all so good. They had live entertainment. Oh, we got nachos for an appetizer.

Just passing through and found Boxcar 40, what a cute little place! Our server told us that he was new but he did a great job! We started with nachos as finished with boxcar burgers and fries. They had some yummy sounding desserts but we were too full to give them a try. Everything was tasty, only change we would make would be to the nacho cheese, it had a good flavor and was hot but was very thick.

Awesome restaraunt that is located inside of the old firehouse. Nice relaxing atmosphere that makes you feel really relaxed. Owner is a down to earth guy who is super friendly and makes you feel like family.

We had lunch, which was served from 2 to 5 pm this was on Sunday. The food was super fresh and delicious. We were never rushed, our appetizers and entrees were perfectly spaced so we had time to enjoy everything.

Well done job! Can’t wait to come back for dinner.

the food was a little bit good, the Deviled Eggs were good but the piece of meat was oversewn, the same happened with the Pork Ribs that were dry, the difference is known because the rib bones have to come off easily from the meat, the Steak says on the menu that they cook it perfect, but the reality is that the meat was bloody and instead of cooking a new piece of Steak they used the one they prepared before, any professional chef knows that these cuts are cooked only one Once, because when the meat is cut, it is not cooked the same, the sealing of the meat makes it cook with its own juices, that is why it is important that the chef knows how to cook with touch and not with the cooking time. The Brisket were at their point something that is of very good quality, flexible and soft cooked almost to perfection and with great flavor, the Burger very well cooked, very good taste, my son loved it, the best thing about the restaurant is the attention of the waitress, in short, if you are looking for a normal restaurant it is a very good option, but if you are looking for a smokehouse restaurant this is not a good option, at least one hopes that the meat retains the smoky flavor and the softness of cooking it slowly. I hope that in the future they will improve because their taste is not bad, but they have a long way to go to say that they cook to perfection.

la comida fue regular, los Deviled Eggs estaba bien pero el pedazo de carne estaba sobrecosido, paso lo mismo con las Pork Ribs que estaban secas, se sabe la difenecia por que los huesos de las costillas se tienen que desprender fácilmente de la carne, el Steak dice en el menú que lo cocinan perfecto, pero la realidad es que estaba con sangre la carne y en vez que cocinaran una pieza nueva de Steak volvieron a utilizar la que me prepararon anteriormente, cualquier chef profesional sabe que esos cortes se cocinan una sola vez, por que cuando se cortan ya la carne no se cocina igual, el sellado de la carne hace que se cocine con sus propios jugos, por eso es importante que en chef sepa cocinar con el tacto y no con el tiempo de cocinado. las Brisket estaban en su punto algo que es de muy buena calidad, flexibles y blandas cocinadas casi a la perfección y con gran sabor, la Burger muy bien cocinada muy buen sabor a mi hijo le fascino, lo mejor de el restaurante es la atención de la mesera, en resumen si buscas un restaurante normal es muy buena opción, pero si buscas un restaurante de smokehouse esta no es una buena opción, por lo menos uno espera que la carne conserve el sabor humo y la suavidad de cocinarlo lentamente. espero que en el futuro mejoren por que su sabor no es malo, pero les falta mucho para decir que cocinan a la perfección.
