Sandwiches were OK, as expected, nothing thrilling. Price was OK. Service was good. If you like this type of food, you would be satisfied most likely. Not my typical choice, got talked into this 😉

A Must-Visit for Cheesesteak Lovers!
Every visit to The Cheesesteak Shop is a win, but I have to say, the Philly Joe’s is my absolute favorite! It’s the perfect blend of flavor and comfort — loaded with savory meat, melty cheese, and just the right kick of spice. If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re seriously missing out.
The atmosphere here is super friendly and welcoming. Whether you’re popping in for a quick bite or hanging out with friends, it always feels like a laid-back spot to enjoy a great meal. The soft drink selection is also impressive — lots of variety, so there’s something for everyone.
Shoutout to Shannon, the manager, for running such a smooth and inviting shop. It’s clear she cares about both the customer experience and her team. And big kudos to Jose — he’s always upbeat, helpful, and brings great energy to every visit. The whole staff is fast, friendly, and efficient — they really know how to keep things moving without ever making you feel rushed.
Also worth mentioning: the bathroom is always clean, which is a huge plus and honestly rare to find these days.
Highly recommend this spot to anyone craving a legit cheesesteak and a great dining experience. I’ll definitely be back — probably sooner than I should be!

Gosh dang, this sandwich was amazing. I don’t consider myself a big cheesesteak person, or even a big red meat person, but it was perfectly balanced. Fresh ingredients made to order — a bit of a wait required, but so worth it. Prices are sort of in line with everything else in Walnut Creek (after all is said and done, between $15-20 per person).

I stopped in and had a medium bacon cheese steak, with a small side of steak fries. While not the “best” cheese steak I’ve ever had, it was pretty good. I will stop by again and sample a few more varieties. Very friendly counter service staff.

The place was visited for the first time on June 30, 2025. Parking was limited on the street, but public paid parking was available in the back. The walls featured nice pictures of famous Cheesesteak places in Philly, along with some information. The menu was straightforward with plenty of options. A large classic or original, was ordered, along with a fountain drink. It took about 7-10 minutes from the time the order was placed until the sandwich was received. The bread was really soft. The meat, cheese, and onion were well-balanced and flavorful. A slightly larger size or more filling would be preferred for the price. Overall, the experience was enjoyable. It is recommended, and if ever back in the area, it would be revisited.

Been coming to this place for close to 20 years, but this was the final straw. It sucks because they make the only decent cheesesteak around, but to pay $20+ for something that was twice this size a few years ago… I’m just disappointed. This was supposed to be a “king”

I’ve been to this location at least 5 times and every single time I came it was disgusting or my food was cold or my cheese wasn’t melted. There was always a problem. The male employees have been a bit rude and that would be before I even would complain about my food. I stopped coming to this location because of it. Today however, it was close and I was hungry so I decided to give it one more shot, I’m glad I did because I had a great experience the cashier Daniela was really friendly and nice and the cook was Alyssa and she made the best Philly cheesesteak I’ve had in a long time. Alyssa was really friendly and nice as well. The steak was perfectly made and my cheese was finally melted lol. I gave her a shoutout in the store and she seemed super grateful!! Thank you Alyssa for finally making me a Philly cheesesteak as I once remembered growing up as a kid.

Always amazing. I’ve been coming here since I was a little kid and any time I’m in the area visiting family I always stop by. My go to is a chicken hoagie, but you really can’t go wrong with anything. And fries are a must.

Excellent food. The only problem is the letters which are very small on the. TV menu so for most people probably not readable. Parking not easy too… BUT excellent confort food!
2022 remodeled and food better than ever.
