Food was fantastic!!!! We ordered the brisket sandwich and 4 Texas Twinkies. We spent a total of $60. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is simply things we didn’t know:
1. It’s cash only – unless we want to use cash app or Zelle
2. It’s outside
3. They don’t sell any plates (like 2 meat and a side) or drinks
4. They didn’t open on time
5. Waiting for 30min even though everything is already cooked. We assumed it was to toast the buns.
6. Observed meat (sausage) that was NOT covered and protected from flies
7. Parking was horrible
All in all the food was great.

Chicano BBQ started humbly when Serafin selling ribs at YESS Prep Academy to his peers. Now, he’s slanging craft BBQ and delicious creations in the Heights.
The ribs are some if the best ribs I’ve had. Fall of the bone, peppery but slightly sweet that gives the meat a fantastic balance. Easily my fave. The brisket is the backbone of many menu items but on its own it’s a standout. Juicy and tender with a nice peppery bark that gives the brisket some bite. The helote brisket takes the same meat and adds helote style corn with crema and spices that makes this a meal.
The smash burgers and Big Tex burger are pretty much monsters that go great when you are leaving the nearby bar. On their own, they stand up although for me it’s a lot.
Other standouts are the poppers, the brisket torta croissant, and the brisket fries are great options that offer good value.
The nearby bar has some good drinks which makes a night out at Chicano BBQ well worth it. Even on its own, Serafin’s craft stands on its own and I highly recommend.

Delicious food and amazing service! I called around 7 pm asking if there were any food left, was confirmed and received a call back letting me know they would hold the food for me as they might run out soon. Texas brisket sandwich was juicy and smokey, and the brisket elote was the right mixture of corn and sauce and brisket. 10/10.

The food is so good. Man this food is delicious!!! I’ve been to so many different Texas BBQ spots, but this definitely one of my favorites. Honestly probably my new #1 spot. The Brisket Elote is my favorite food item it’s so savory and not too salty at the same time. It just hits the spot if you know what I’m saying. The food is also a lot cheaper compared to other BBQ spots I’ve noticed. The food just tastes it’s made with love, passion, and care. The food is unique and succeeds in hitting the craving for Texas BBQ. Great flavors, great menu items, great service! I highly recommend the Brisket Elote, brisket, pork ribs, any burger especially the Tex Mex. What else can you ask for?! Can’t wait to go again!

Visited for 1st time today. Got there at 3pm on dot. Ordered the brisket/smash burger and 3 ribs. The brisket was really dry and tough. The flavor was ok, think meat needs a little more seasoning. I ended up eating my sandwich with fork and knife. $18 was a bit much for that. I could bite down like a burger. The wait was 3:40pm when buzzer went off.

I’m hesitant to share my post because I feel like we have a little underground Tex-Mex BBQ gem right in our neighborhood. It’s not your typical mainstream Texas BBQ joint in Htown, and that’s why it’s one of my favorites.
I love that Chicano BBQ infuses cultura to some of his BBQ dishes. Great options to try are the brisket Elote, Croissant Torta and the Texas Twinkies (jalapeno poppers).
My brisket is great but really love the ribs. Might be the best ribs I’ve had.
We also enjoy the Brisket fries and Smash burger. What’s cool about this place is you can also chill at the bar next door.
Sides are limited so don’t expect the tradition BBQ spot sides here like the potato salad, charro beans, greens, etc. again that’s what makes this place unique though. I’m going to be a regular for sure

The Elote and the Texas Twinkie were 10/10 delicious. The brisket I had was lean and moist. Both were delicious. The ribs were good. I will come back again. This is a very good eating place. However, at 3:30, the line is long. They open up at three. I was there at 2 p.m., and I waited to make sure that I was able to get my food… So I ended up buying a rack of ribs, the Texas Twinkie, the brisket, and the elote.
The only problem I had with this establishment is that one of the guys has a very long beard and it’s not covered and no one want hair in their food and especially by being hot this time of the year, that’s sweat in the beard. That’s the only problem I had if he could, please shave it or either cover it while he’s working around the Food.
Please stop by you won’t be disappointed

Absolutely amazing bbq! But beware, once you go to chicanos you can never go back to any other bbq place with the same expectations because you’ll be disappointed! You can tell they care about the craft and have a genuine love for making great bbq. Prices are decent and customer service is amazing. It deserves all the love and support. I would travel state lines just to get it. Definitely a must try in Houston!
