We came for lunch Saturday afternoon at noon. We were actually the only customers there. We used to love going to Plaza, but hadn’t been back in a while due to previous experiences. We gave it another go this past weekend.

We were pleasantly surprised with the phenomenal service we had Jose was our server and made our drinks. I ordered a strawberry marg and my husband ordered a spicy raspberry marg. They were very strong margaritas and delicious. He couldn’t stop raving about his in particular. I loved that they use fresh lime juice and not sour mix.

We started by ordering chips and queso for an appetizer, it came hot and had the perfect mix of flavor and spice. For entrées, I ordered the chicken tacos and asked for shredded cheese added. My husband got the steak tacos. Their meat portion has definitely slimmed down for the tacos.

However, they have revamped their menus and now include the prices of drinks, which is nice. We would probably come back for happy hour, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a full meal.

They filled the churros with strawberry jam so that’s why I’m giving 4 rather than 5 stars.
We ordered fajitas which were excelent. Margaritas were really good

I’ve gone here a good amount and usually have a decent experience. Food is mostly good, slightly inconsistent at times. Service is definitely sub par but not terrible, usually young kids who probably don’t have much experience waiting tables and that’s alright, gotta start somewhere. However, I will never order take out here again. The website said it would be ready in 35 minutes. I showed up after 25 and the food was ice cold. One simple request on the order was ignored. The portions were smaller than I’ve ever seen and they forgot crucial components that typically come with the dishes, like the pickled onions with tacos, which kind of makes these tacos stand out over other places. There is nothing worse than getting take out and looking forward to it only to get home and being completely disappointed. I’d still give them a chance but dine in only!

Best Mexican food in Frederick County. As a native from Cali, where the Mexican food is top notch almost everywhere it was a struggle to find anything comparable until now. I have never had good Mexican food here in Maryland for the past 10+ years I have lived here, but this place comes close to the better side of things!

Drinks are strong! Environment is nice for a date, friends outing or celebration. I’ve had Taco bowl and shrimp fajitas – they both were banging!

The service was excellent and the food is delicious. The quesadilla Texana has chicken, beef and shrimp! It’s so tasty. The meat was perfectly seasoned. Definitely worth going back!

A Flavorful and Lively Spot

Plaza Mexico Restaurant offers a great ambiance, and lively surroundings make it a fun place to enjoy Mexican cuisine.

The menu has a variety of flavorful options, with some standout items. The Jalapeño Margarita is a must-try—spicy, bold, and a great way to kick off the meal. The Carne Asada Fries were delicious, though they are quite filling. However, the Carne Asada itself didn’t quite meet my expectations.

For a vegetarian option, the Enchiladas de Espinacas were absolutely delicious—well-seasoned and satisfying.

Service was okay—staff was friendly but not overly attentive. The restaurant is clean and well-maintained, adding to the overall pleasant experience.

Despite some minor issues, I recommend this place for its atmosphere, drinks, and certain dishes. I’ll definitely return to explore more of the menu!

I love Plaza Mexico it’s one of my favorite restaurants. I want to give a 10/10 review, amazing food and amazing customer service!! My friends and I had a big party last night and the service was great! I accidentally spilled water on my friend’s food and they went out of their way to help clean up the mess and brought out a new plate of food! Thank you so much ❤️

Unfortunately this was not a great experience, although, we liked it in the past. Ordered the wings and they were good, although, very small. We then ordered a Ribeye and Chicken combo meal and the Grande Burrito. The Steak was tasteless, the Chicken was good. Asked to have ground beef rather than steak in the Burrito and that was a mistake. It was so salty, I could not eat it. My husband tried to eat it, but gave up after a few bites. We wanted to order dessert, but competed with the Barcelona vs Madrid game for our waiters attention…the game won and after 15 minutes of waiting to order it. We gave up and asked for the check.

We came here for dinner with friends and kids. The place is very roomy and nice. Nice staff. The food was good. They had a good variety of food to choose from and the same for the drink options. It was nice to see that they had Jaritos (thats my kids favorite). The street corn was the best! We got a couple of food options and everything tasted good. Would return.

Food is good and a fair value for the price. Margaritas are large but a bit weak. Outdoor space is one of the best in Frederick as it runs along the canal and you can hear the Alive at Five bands. Staff is friendly but can get too busy to remember you’re there. Overall a good experience!
