Salsa a mediocre, somewhat disappointing serving for such well regarded establishment. Certainly in the lower tier of the well loved quality Salsas. 2 Stars. Chips plain average. 2 Stars.
Lunch menu, Chili Relleno and Crunchy Taco an uneventful fast lunch serving. Beans salty, the tiny presence of guacamole near frozen, Rice a little better. Dull and uninspiring offering. 3 Stars.
House Carnitas, boasting of being home made, long ways for upper placement. Chewy, while also managing to be dried, back to Carnitas 101. At best 3 Stars.
Soda bottle ($3.50) water drinkable.
Place looked colorful, service adequate. Someone extremely kind and nice suggested this place, a little hard to tell her how mediocre everything was. Total with gratuity way past $60.
By reading the reviews of this place, expectations were met by reality, and let’s just say it did not pan out. So this place merits 4.3 Stars on average? I respectfully disagree. 3 Stars.

Had a delicious enchilada lunch with hardly any other customers. Clean and nicely decorated. Delicious food and an excellent frozen margie for an overall fair price. I will definitely return.
(edit 2025). food quality has dropped significantly. tortillas fall apart, making a mess. flavor is negligible. service is iffy. I’ve been coming in here 2 – 3x per week for over a year and I’m going to find a new place for my working lunch.

I love this place. Small but very artsy with hand painted walls, tables, and chairs. Very friendly service and the best fajitas around. Love the Fajitas Pueblito with steak, chicken, carnitas, and chorizo.

Came in for lunch and got my food in less than 5 minutes. I have to say the carnitas tacos were the best Ive had in the states and equal to what I’ve had in Mexico. Will be back.

I’m not sure where these good reviews come from? Canned beans and the cheapest store bought tortillas you can get. The smallest piece of asada I’ve ever seen and it was inedible. Tough meat and tasted almost sour. The chimi was okay but not worth $15 as it was tiny. The asada inside tasted good but again a thin cheap store tortilla soaked in oil.

Best Mexican food I’ve had in a restaurant. The salsa was amazing too.

The mocajete was a near spiritual experience. Possibly the best Mexican dish I’ve ever had, bar none. Service was smoking fast and attentive. Prices are as you’d expect a sit down Mexican restaurant, which boggles the mind given the quality of their dishes. Don’t let this little Mexican restaurant fool you, they’ve got big flavor! Don’t pass them up the next time you’re in the Durham area.

I normally don’t eat a lot of salt or add salt to any of my food, but that was the first time I’ve ever had to add salt to Mexican food, for me it was really bland. I was hoping to get a very good tasty green enchilada meal. The chicken had no flavor and was not tender at all, when I get enchiladas I would like meat that’s tender and flavorful, not plain and kind of tough. The sauce was okay, not great. The rice and beans were okay. I was really hoping it was going to be a good meal and a new place for me to go to but I think that will be the last for me.
