We strive to provide friendly southern hospitality and pair it with delicious fresh cooked food. The fried corn on the cob appetizer is a whole new experience with corn on the cob. It’s busting at the seams with flavor and a little heat, served up with ranch dipping sauce. The onion rings and homemade honey mustard dipping sauce was good. I had the Philly Cheesecake, made with real thinly sliced steak. Pretty tasty for sure. Wife had the brisket chili, it was packed full of flavor and a little heat. The brisket was flavorful and tender. Very good!! To finish off a good was the “star of the show” it’s not listed as a menu item but definitely order it! I know the suspense is running high, it is a blueberry bread pudding with a blueberry/raspberry drizzle and a small dab of whip topping. I assure you, it’s a major highlight to a good meal! If you have never had bread pudding or the one and only time you ever tried bread pudding and didn’t like it, give this one a try. You will thank me later!!

I’m not sure where the name came from, but the flavor? They’ve got that figured out. This place has a small-town charm that makes you feel like the regulars have been coming here since forever, and they just might invite you to stay.
It’s tucked off the interstate just enough to make it feel like a secret worth finding. Service was lightning-fast and the food came out hot, fresh, and packed with flavor. My buddy ordered the patty melt, and I didn’t hear much from him after that except the occasional satisfied grunt between bites. Always a good sign.
I went with the BLT and had my doubts when it came on rye instead of white. But the first bite made me a believer. The chef clearly knows what they’re doing because it worked perfectly. The Old Bay chips are delicious with just enough spice to keep things interesting. A little ranch on the side takes them to the next level.
If you’re cruising down the highway and looking for good food made by good people, this is your stop. Quick service, friendly faces, and food that tastes like it was cooked with care. You won’t leave hungry, and you might just start planning your next road trip around coming back here.

Nestled in the charming heart of Warrior, the Old Dowdle Pub delivers a culinary triumph that lingers long after the last bite. I was swept away by their fish sandwich, a veritable masterpiece of crisp and freshness. The fish, thick and tender, was encased in a golden, airy batter that crackled with each bite. The accompanying sauce was a revelation, light, nuanced, with a subtle citrus note that enhanced rather than overwhelmed. The breading provided just the right amount of crunch, framing the flaky fish inside. And then, there was the slaw…oh, the homemade slaw! It was simply to die for: crisp, fresh, with a creamy tang that cut through the richness of the sandwich. The fries, too, were perfectly seasoned, with a delicate balance of salt that elevated their crispness. Every element on the plate spoke of care, balance, and a chef’s passion for excellence. Without a doubt, the Dowdle Gaston Pub earns its glowing five stars.

On Monday, October 2, 2025, I arrived at Dowdle at about 12:05pm to meet my wife’s uncle. We sat outside. This was my first time. Uncle has been there a number of times. A young lady with long curly hair was our waitress. Super outgoing and nice.
She told us the specials which Uncle took one of. Chopped barbecue over Mac and cheese. He added sauce on top. Meat looked well smoked and super moist. Mac and cheese was definitely homemade and looked super cheesy. He LOVED this dish.
I ordered the shaved ribeye on an onion roll. Had cheese and BBQ sauce on it. Meat was super tender. Bun was light and definitely fresh. The cheese and sauce enhanced the meat. I wish the meat was a little more flavorful but would still get this again. The fries were super crispy and fresh.
Score is really a 4.5 but half stars are not possible.

The waitress was very helpful and attentive to our needs. We really appreciated the military discount. All 3 of our meals were very flavorful and well seasoned. We will definitely be back soon this has been a great addition and must visit in warrior.

Love this place—we’ve officially graduated from first-timers to regulars. The service is great, the food is consistently delicious, and the vibe is always friendly and lively. It’s the kind of spot you keep coming back to without even thinking about it.
My only wish (said with love!) is that the booth seats get a little makeover. They’re looking pretty rough these days, and I can’t help but wonder about the hygiene situation. Plus, with summer around the corner, sitting on those seats in shorts or a skirt can feel like your legs are being lightly exfoliated… whether you asked for it or not.
That said, we’ll still be back—just maybe with jeans on for now!

I love the staff! They are great folks, never got a rude person yet. The food is surprisingly good, not just ‘bar food’ the rib eye is the best I’ve had at a restaurant. The atmosphere can be noisy but not obnoxious. Nice warm and friendly place! Enjoy!

Upfront honesty always. I have dined here 3 times before completing this review.
My first experience was for lunch with a group of peers, two of which were regulars. I was invited and accepted the offer. No regrets. I enjoyed the service and food so much that I brought my son back the following day! I picked him up from the airport after spring break and told him I had a new eatery he needed to try out. I told him that the philly was delicious but he decided on the wings. I bartered half my Philly for a few wings. Win-win. He loved them both. AND…the sweet tea is perfect (yes I know sentences should not begin with AND but it’s Google! Google Rule #1, never talk about Google). The young lady remembered me from the day prior AND my drink order as well. Unfortunately she wasn’t there when I went this last time. She appeared to liven the place up. Service wasn’t horrible. It just wasn’t the same. I ordered the wings this time around. Kudos! I like a simple crunch on my wings and simple crunch I got with each and every bite.
Parking isn’t the best but it is conducive to the size of the eatery.
This is great option for the area. Try it out. You’ll love it
