There are four major styles of BBQ commonly recognized. Carolina, Memphis, Kansas City and Texas. But! We here at The Magnolia Pit are changing that and putting Louisiana on the BBQ style map!
We have put together a careful balance of spices and notable Louisiana flavors in our house made rubs and sauces that WILL distinguish our style from the others. And like with all Louisiana cuisine our BBQ and side dishes will stand out just as proudly.

Tried something different for lunch today and truly enjoyed it. Large portions of food. Very friendly service from all the workers we encountered. They gave recommendations with it being our first time. They checked on us throughout our dining experience. Small, cozy restaurant setting. Food came out hot and seasoned well. Will definitely be back for the brisket sandwich & beignets.

The people who gave the 2 star reviews.. they seem to be a tad too picky like my kids. The atmosphere is great, the food is 9.5 out of 10, and I was served quickly with a smile. The quantity of the portions was awesome for the price, especially in this economy. So if your reading this if you are looking for a place to eat when searching barbeque like inside, try this place. Their collard greens are fire and their meat fantastic.

Found this today when I read about the Shreveport 318 Food Fest going on this week. We were in Shreveport for a doctors appointment and interested in having BBQ for lunch. I found this one among the recommended restaurants. It had the highest rating at 4.7 /5 so we decided to try it. WOW, from the moment we walked in the environment was so cool and unique! We were greeted by Christy who went over the menu and answered our every question. It is the first time in my husband and my experience that every single thing we ordered was fabulous from the brisket, ribs and sausage to the potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans and fried okra. Even the bread (cheese jalapeño bread I think) and BBQ sauces were delicious. The portion sizes were generous enough to bring home for supper. Will definitely come back here for next craving even though it’s 1 1/2 hours away. Only negative might be parking.

I’m a tough critic when it comes to BBQ, but The Magnolia Pit has left me speechless. This isn’t just “good” BBQ, this is next-level.
The brisket is, hands down, the best in the city. No contest. The smoke ring was beautiful, and the flavor from the bark was incredible. It’s clear they put serious time and passion into their craft. Mine was a little fatty for my personal preference (I asked for extra lean but I’m not sure if that’s an option), but the flavor was so out-of-this-world good that it didn’t even matter.
And the SIDES! They are honestly the best. The potato salad is awesome and has a great spicy kick, and the coleslaw has a nice kick to it, too. The whole place has a super original atmosphere and vibe. I also really appreciated that they have bottled water as an option, which a lot of places don’t.
A quick heads-up: The area is a little sketchy (but for Shreveport, I think that’s pretty par for the course). Also, the bathroom situation involves keys, so it must be outside the main restaurant. I didn’t check it out, but don’t let any of that deter you.
The food is that good. This is my new #1 spot. 10/10, highly recommend!

New spot, not even a year old, and I can’t count how many times I’ve been here. It’s absolutely delicious. My only complaint is the beef ribs. I ordered beef ribs last Friday (only available on Fridays) I was there when the doors opened at 11am for lunch and 1 of my ribs were extremely dry, to the point we’re it was too hard to eat. That was the 2nd time that had happened. But other than that, it’s a great spot if you want good bbq. Their dining room is a bit small, but I always order to go, so that isn’t an issue for me.
***UPDATE***
BASIC BARBECUE SPOT NOW. THEY GOT RID OF ALL THE STUFF THAT MADE THEM STANDOUT. THEY GOT RID OF THE SMOKED CHICKEN WINGS. They started adding any meat they had available to the beans where before it was just brisket. If you don’t eat pork, you can’t have their beans

The food was great, and the options were plenty. We particularly liked the brisket and the ribs.
The street corn and the collard greens stole the show for the sides. The customer service was beyond Wonderful- from the beginning to the end.
My only recommendation is that they bring the food out hot- our food, (although the flavor was wonderful) was less than warm- Not sure if that’s the standard or if it was just ours. But definitely willing to return again to give it another try! Certainly recommend- Give it a try!

Oh man this place is good! I went with a small group for a special they had, Thor’s Hammer. It was a smoked beef shank with five sides and desert. The five of us ate a good amount and still had leftovers to take home. The food is a magical experience in and of itself but the staff also make it just a wonderful experience. The pork belly pinto beans are some of the best beans I’ve ever had in my life and the Mac n cheese is out of this world. I cannot wait to go back!

What a nice surprise. We were passing through Shreveport and stopped in for lunch. For sure up their with best in class BBQ. Great mix of Cajun flair and Texas style BBQ. I got the Fire Cracker Pork Belly bites, brisket cheddar sandwich, and ate my kids Mac & Cheese. Outstanding!!!!!

My first time trying The Magnolia Pit. The staff seemed very friendly. However, the food was not good. The brisket was tough and had no flavor. The dirty rice was dry and EXTREMELY salty. The Mac was pasty and had no flavor at all.

Decent food, weird vibes. Rolling through Louisiana with my brother (#BPN2026) and came upon this place from Google Maps. Location was easy enough to find. There’s a rotating door when you first walk in… I think they were going for speak easy vibes. Service was decent enough: order at the counter, they bring you the food. Food was alright: solid meat, smallish portions, sides were fine. Fairly dark, kinda quiet, not welcoming, not unwelcoming. Then, if you use the restroom, you enter a video game. There was a musty smell, loud hum, and almost mental hospital things going on right on the other side of the door. Kind of with checking out for that, alone. If that’s your thing…
