The mango fish curry was very flavorful, with a great mix of sweetness and spice that didn’t overpower the dish. For dessert, the ma rice pudding was excellent creamy and comforting, topped with toasted almonds and pomegranate that added a really nice texture and contrast.
One of the highlights was the pani puri with tuna. It was very good and refreshing, and a creative, modern take on a classic Indian street food.
Overall, a great dining experience with thoughtful dishes and high-quality ingredients. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Flatiron and looking for elevated Indian cuisine.
The dal, rice, greens and curry were well seasoned and served at the right temperature. The flavors felt balanced and nothing was overly spicy. Service was steady, polite and perfectly timed.
If you want Indian food in New York that feels refined but still familiar, Junoon delivers a consistent experience.
We also appreciated the naan and sauces included with the meal; truly delicious and high-quality. The staff went above and beyond with service, including a surprise birthday sorbet that made the evening feel extra special.
On top of that, the team was incredibly understanding and professional when we had an issue with cash for gratuity; they handled it with grace and made us feel comfortable. A rare and appreciated level of hospitality.
Junoon has an amazing legacy as one of NYC’s first Michelin-starred Indian restaurants (holding a star for eight years) with a modern, elevated take on Indian cuisine, and the experience lives up to that reputation.
If taste buds ever truly lived, it is because of Junoon.
And if one ever needed a reason to celebrate life through food, it would be here.
Thank you, Tanmay, Rishika, Juber and Sidharth and every soul who picked, prepared, and served—your craft is perfected, and your care is felt in every bite.
This was our second meal with you in four days, and whenever we return to NYC, Junoon will always be our home.
Strongly recommend- The Ghost chili murgh tikka, saag, lal maas( reminded me of Roganjosh), palak kebab, eggplant pakora, minced chicken curry and their paan kulfi ..
With gratitude,
Ashu, Reetu & Avantika
But the truth is, after paying around $120 per person, I walked out still hungry. And that feeling stayed with me more than anything else.
Let me separate two things clearly — the food review is independent of what happened at the front desk.
The food (separate from the front desk)
Some flavors were good. The chicken tikka was nice. A couple of bites in the meal were enjoyable.
But the quantity just didn’t make sense for the price. The portions were so small that even after a full 4-course meal, it didn’t feel satisfying. The dessert was also very small — I’ll add photos.
And one specific thing really disappointed me: with the 4-course meal, the bread/naan is one per person, which is not fine. But the rice and the daal were served as one small portion for the whole table. When you’re paying that much per person, you shouldn’t feel like you have to “manage” food on the table or ask for basics just to feel satisfied.
Also, the “small snacks” at the start were so tiny that it felt more like a display than something you can actually enjoy. You don’t even get a proper taste.
Overall, the food felt average, and at times it didn’t feel freshly made — more like it was prepared earlier and reheated. That’s not what I expected at this price point.
Service + front desk
Now separately — when we arrived, we were told it’s a fixed course meal. We said we weren’t that hungry and asked if we could sit at the bar instead. We were told if we do that, we’ll be charged a $90 cancellation fee ($45 per person) because they’d have to free the table.
That felt cold. I understand policies, but as a guest, it felt like pressure, not hospitality.
One more thing on service: I politely asked not to keep refilling water for me, but different staff kept coming and pouring anyway. It made me feel like my request wasn’t heard.
Why I’m writing this
I’m not looking for a refund, and I’m not trying to hurt anyone’s business. I respect that this is your livelihood.
I’m writing because I genuinely feel the restaurant needs to look into this and own it — because what I experienced felt like the customer is being taken for granted. If you’re charging premium prices, guests should leave feeling cared for and satisfied — not hungry and disappointed.
If you’re just craving Indian food, you’ll honestly have a better, more satisfying meal at home or at a normal Indian restaurant for a fraction of the price. And if you’re choosing a place to celebrate a special memory, I’d suggest picking somewhere else — this didn’t feel worth it.
I hope the team reads this, reflects, and improves.
not my fave dessert but everything else was great
Today I visited for dinner with my family.
We really appreciate your hospitality.
We enjoyed the food — the drinks were amazing!
A must-try dish is the Laal Maas (Goat Curry) — perfectly cooked with rich spices and great taste.
See you again soon. Thanks!
