A friend told me I had to try Portillo’s, so I finally went and ordered five of their well-known meals to get the full experience.
The Italian Beef Sandwich was hands down the winner – juicy, flavorful, and the kind of sandwich you’d go back for. The hot dogs were simple but tasty, with the pickles and peppers giving them a nice kick. The cheeseburger was fine – nothing wrong with it, but it could have been a little juicier. The Spicy Chicken Sandwich, though, was a letdown. It wasn’t bad, but it just didn’t have the heat or bold flavor I was expecting.
And here’s an important tip: no matter what you order, don’t skip the fries with cheese sauce. They’re a must-have – crispy, golden fries with that rich, creamy cheese… the perfect side to any meal.
All in all, it was a good visit and I get why people love this place. Next time, I’m definitely trying the ribs – everyone keeps saying they’re the real highlight.

Great Experience for a Big Group – Italian Beef Was a Highlight! We visited Portillo’s in Willowbrook with a group of about 10 people, and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. The restaurant was busy but energetic, with a warm, classic Chicago vibe. Even with the rush, our large order was handled smoothly, and everything came out hot, fresh, and accurate.
We ordered a variety of items:
• Cheeseburgers – juicy and satisfying
• Chicken Tenders – crispy and perfect for kids
• And the Strawberry Lemon Cheesecake – light and refreshing!

This locations is awful! Every single time I go here they short me on fries, the container is barely half full. The other locations in Summit or Forest Park are so much better. My last time going here they do this EVERY TIME!!

I ordered a whole meal and dessert. I was disappointed to find an eggshell in my cake slice. I’ve never had an experience like this before, I’m literally eating a piece and bit into this eggshell. It made my gums bleed because it went right in between my teeth.

Portillo’s delivered. The food was amazing from start to finish. The hot dogs were absolutely on point, full of flavor and done exactly how they should be. Everything we ordered came out fairly quick, fresh, and tasted great.
The overall experience really stood out, and a big part of that was Kenny, the leader on duty. He was friendly, professional, and clearly runs a tight ship. You can tell when a place is well led, and it shows in the service and the quality. Portillo’s is very lucky to have someone like him in a leadership role.
As a business owner, I respect places that do it right. This location did exactly that. I’d come back without hesitation and highly recommend it.

My husband and I make a point of getting a meal and take out before heading back home to Michigan whenever we come to Illinois. The service is friendly and efficient. The food is always fresh, hot and tasty. We love the Italian beef sandwiches, meatballs and gravy, hot dogs and chocolate cake to die for! We never leave without 2 1/2 lbs of frozen Italian beef to go with the aujus. Thank you Portillos!!!…please open up a location near St. Joseph, MI!!!

We are from our of state. Every time we visit family in the area, we come here at least every day while there. Portillos is voodoo good. Nothing beats a true Chicago hotdog. There is no replacement. The team work here is amazing. These people love their jobs. Friendly people happy to take your order rain or shine. They have a very efficient system of keeping the drive thru moving.
