The beer was cold and the bartender was friendly. The cole slaw was very good spicy and sour with plenty of vinegar. The Blackend Catfish was seasoned well but could have been a little more Blackend. The dirty rice was very tasty and paired well with the fish. I’ll definitely be back.

I had the New Orleans Style Roast Beef Debris Po Boy which reminded me of poboys back home in New Orleans. It was so good especially with the gravy. I also had the oyster rockefeller which was great. My man had the chicken fried chicken which he enjoyed.

I’ve been a customer here since 1999 when the original owner Charlie McGuinnes still presided over. The menu items have changed a little over the years with many old favorites still being served up. Being a native New Orleanian I have to spice up some of the dishes as they are a little tame for my taste. There’s lots of Cajun and creole choices. Most anything fried is great. Red beans and rice is one of my favorites.

1st off this place felt like a morgue, it was colder than a polar bear toe nails. But i guess that could be subjective? Our 1st waitress was not very attentive but the second one saved the day. We seen someone recommend this place on Instagram and we’re very optimistic and like to try new things and create new experiences. But this was an epic fail. They went on to say how good the catfish was and etc. We’re pescatarians so all we eat is fish. So we’ve been around the block with fish restaurants to say the least. And if we had to score this place on the fish alone and not including the service & atmosphere. It’ll be a solid 3 out of 10. If your used to eating bland food, then I guess this would excite you. But for us we were highly disappointed . Trust me it looks good but our taste bugs went on strike. The dish was crispy & flaky on the outside and the fish was slightly undercooked on the inside. And even tho the onions rings are handmade in-house, something was off about them. But then again your talking to a person that has experienced almost every fish restaurant in the Dallas/oak cliff area. So I have a lot to compare this too… would I go back?? This is an iron fist “NO!” And to the owner, some renovations are needed. It felt like someone handed this restaurant down to an heir that didn’t want it, so they let it go/fall by the wayside. Needless to say, we took our food to go and gave it away. Razzoo’s has a more authentic new Orleans flair than is place. And we all know that’s far from the truth.. like we know that olive garden is not authentic Italian food lol.. not to be a complete bash on this place, just know it can improve but if you don’t. You’ll only retain your old customer fan base…

The gumbo is tangy and different from what I am use to eating. Fried seafood was tasty and crispy. I enjoyed the frued green tomatoes but I do not recommend the sauce with shrimp unless you enjoy a tangy sauce. Service was good friendly staff.

Sad to see the shrimp creole was taken off the menu. Bread pudding wasn’t as good as it has been. Just a little disappointed. The creole was what brought us to Charlie’s in the first place. Oh well

Charlie’s Seafood Kitchen is a true gem! The crawfish is incredibly fresh, the portions are generous, and every dish is packed with flavor. The crab fingers in garlic butter are absolutely delicious, and the flounder topped with cream sauce is top-tier — easily one of the best I’ve had. Every plate was a 10 out of 10. If you love seafood done right, this place is a must-visit.
