We stopped off at this restaurant on our way home from Jacksonville, Florida. We were greeted promptly at the door by caring staff. We were seated in a nice area and the service was excellent. Our server was Elena and she made sure everything was to our liking. She continually checked on our needs and wants from the initial seating until we departed. Excellent food! Excellent service! Excellent experience. Highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area.

This BBQ place is awesome! The portions are generous, and there’s a great variety of options to choose from. They even have an indoor bar with beer and cocktails, which adds to the laid-back, fun atmosphere.
The food was absolutely delicious—especially the pulled pork and brisket, both tender and packed with flavor. The staff were super friendly and helpful, making the experience even better.
The restaurant itself is spacious with plenty of seating, and everything was clean and well-kept. I also loved the decor—it had a warm, Southern vibe that fit the BBQ theme perfectly.
Highly recommend stopping by if you’re craving some quality barbecue!

LOVED THIS PLACE….. We were traveling north on I95, using “search along route” on Google Maps to find a place for dinner. Saw Sonny’s and chose it; we felt like having BBQ, and the reviews were good. We loved it! It was bright and clean. Our waitress was helpful (new menu for us), friendly and efficient. Food was delicious! Also very affordable. Sonny’s BBQ was new to us and we can’t wait to be in the south again so we can find a Sonny’s.

On October 7th, I went to Sonny’s BBQ which is located at 5328 New Jesup Highway. When I first entered, I was greeted by a welcoming, aromatic, smoky scent of wood and meat. Alongside this captivating smell was an accommodating seating area and a lovely staff member who was stationed at a small stand that seated us promptly. There was also a bar that sort of had a dark ambience to it but had a late night football game vibe to it. The tables were spacious and were well lit by lamps hanging above the table. Our waitress was very kind and welcoming, she had no problem in answering any questions we had about the menu. The menu was of course all things BBQ and so there was no escaping it. (What did you expect?) I ordered a 4 meat pitmaster combo and chose pulled pork, sliced brisket, 1/2 pound of smoked chicken, baby back ribs, bbq beans, side salad and cornbread. My drink of choice was sweet tea. Sweet tea is a staple in my life whenever I go out anywhere. The wait to get our food was not excessively long and the waitress came out with all the food and everyone got their food at the same time. When we got our food it was a sight to behold, the four meat pit master combo was enough food to feed two people. In addition with the sides and the side salad, I knew I was gonna need a to-go box after. Everything had its own distinct flavor and was so enjoyable. The smoked chicken tasted like something straight out of the barbecue that your family does for 4th of July. The ribs were covered in sauce and practically fell off the bone. The pulled pork was awesome, it was so tender and flavorful, it felt as if the meat was consistently bursting with flavor and made you not want to put the fork down. The sliced brisket, in my opinion was sort of a nice mediator between the four meats as it was packed with flavor but didn’t have an overpowering taste. In general, the meat wasn’t dry or felt as if it was mostly fat. The flavor never got repetitive, and what made it better was the sauce bottles that are at the table. There are four bottles and the flavors consist of: Original, Smoky, Sweet, and Spicy. All four generally taste the same but have a different aftertaste; but if you want to give your food an additional flavor, I recommend the smoky flavored sauce. Although I didn’t order dessert, my meal did have a side of cornbread which was warm, had the same color as a golden roasted marshmallow and looked like it was made with exceptional care. The taste of it was simple, with the bits of corn giving a slight sweetness, but what added onto it was the cinnamon butter that came with it. It was the cherry on top and made my experience at Sonny’s even better. Aside from the food, the cost of eating there is around 10-20 dollars per person, depending on what you order. This establishment was very welcoming and so was the staff. The service is amazing and you won’t have to wait long for your food or have to wait for someone else’s food to get to the table so you can start eating. This place would be fitting if you came for a nice lunch or maybe you don’t feel like cooking on a Friday night and want to go out for something familiar and flavorful. Alongside that, guests will feel very comfortable eating here as the environment is lively but also secluded in a way where you can laugh heartily with your friends and family. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone who lives in Brunswick, or is passing through.

Was a sign coming into town and figured I’d stop by. If they can pay to have a billboard on the highway it must be good right? My first impression was the menu. It has images of items on the menu, wish more restaurants did that. We ordered 3 things from the menu. BBQ egg rolls, brisket sandwich and pulled pork sandwich all on their garlic toast. Our server Jess was helpful, honest and promptly. My first bite was pleasant. The bread was perfectly toasted. The butter and garlic could be tasted throughout the whole sandwich without overpowering it. I’m from Texas so I’m used to Texas BBQ. In Texas it’s heavily seasoned which I love, this was not heavily seasoned and still managed to impress my little Texas heart. My wife had the brisket sandwich which I tried, it was phenomenal. I’d chose that over the pulled pork sandwich if I had to chose. Much more flavor, had the smokey taste I want out of BBQ and good texture. I would come back 100%. Try this place for yourself if you’re looking for a BBQ spot.
