What a LET DOWN. Went there due to so many good reviews. The service was lackluster, had to ask the server to take our drink orders 15 minutes after we were seated. Very low quality hot tea, brought out in coffee cups of hot water with a cheap tea bag in it. No offers for refills while there. The food was a serious disappointment; all entries seemed to have been made from dried sauce packs. Curry was over thick as if they didn’t add enough water to the dry powder mix. Pad Thai, though with plenty of tofu had very little flavor even though we asked for spicy. It is very obvious that these dishes were not made from scratch. The chicken curry soup was nearly tasteless. The spring rolls were deep fried at too low a temperature resulting in a greasy product that should not have been served.

The atmosphere was pleasant and in nice weather their patio must be spectacular. The inside dining area tastefully decorated and the background music was just right. Really cheap stamped metal flatwear really stood out, nicer flatware would be a good touch.

There is NO street parking, but there is an adequate parking lot behind the restaurant accessed by growing around the block.

With more of a focus on the food this would be a Great little restaurant to take your friends to, but as it is now I will be avoiding it.

My sister and I tried this Thai spot for the first time today and unfortunately our experience wasn’t great.

When we first walked in, a girl greeted us and started taking our order. We assumed she was the host or a server, but when we asked a few questions about the menu she repeatedly responded with “I don’t know.” This happened several times, and she never offered to ask another employee for help. Eventually a gentleman stepped in and finished taking our order. He was very kind and knowledgeable about the menu, which we appreciated. However, if an employee isn’t familiar with the menu, they probably shouldn’t be the one taking orders or should at least offer to ask someone who knows.

The bigger issue was the food. I ordered the tom kha soup and unfortunately found three pieces of plastic in it, which was really concerning. My sister ordered a side of fried rice, and the flavor was off — it had a strange wet or humid taste that made it hard to enjoy.

We were excited to try this place, but between the service confusion and the issues with the food, the experience was disappointing. I hope the restaurant takes feedback like this seriously and improves both staff training and food quality.

Sundays in Bishop Arts are a culinary adventure, and this past weekend, I stumbled upon a hidden gem: Chan Thai/Pho 88. This charming family-owned restaurant, buzzing with a warm, welcoming atmosphere, instantly drew me in. It’s clear they’ve cultivated a loyal following, and after tasting their food, I completely understand why.

Whispers from the regulars pointed me towards their star dishes: the fragrant pineapple fried rice, the perfectly balanced pad thai, and the comforting, soul-warming pho. They even offer a few American Chinese favorites, like the tempting sesame chicken.

However, I decided to venture into their curry offerings, and let me tell you, it was a fantastic choice. The rich, aromatic spices danced on my palate, creating a symphony of flavors.

What truly sets Chan Thai/Pho 88 apart is the unbeatable combination of delicious food and the undeniable care that comes from a family-run establishment. You can taste the passion and dedication in every bite. If you’re looking for an authentic and heartwarming meal in Bishop Arts, look no further. This place is a must-try!

The food was delicious! Shrimp and crab dumplings, wonton soup, shrimp pad Thai. Everything tastes great fresh out of the kitchen, not very good at all as left overs.

There were many flies on the patio but it is a nice, large outdoor seating area.

Good portions and price. Would dine-in again.

Purchase the Yellow Curry Fried Shrimp, but it tastes scorched. Had a bitter aftertaste to it. The soup was good the egg roll is burnt. See pics. Probably will not frequent this restaurant. I was really looking forward to a great meal

We come here often. The food is so flavorful, the prices are very affordable and the service is consistently great. Particularly the two bartenders are always knowledgeable about the menu, kind and great at making drinks.

The staff was friendly and very attentive for the most part. The issue was that the Pho was bland, did not really have flavor at all. The spring rolls were small and something inside of it was mushy. They barely wanted to give you veggies and sauce that goes with the pho. For the price of the spring rolls and Pho, this place is very stingy with servings. I recommend going to an actual Pho shop unless you like soup that taste like water.

Service was friendly and the person who took my order over the phone was knowledgeable about ways to make my order vegan. I got #28 on the menu, with tofu and mushroom sauce to make it vegan. The food was good although too saucy/greasy. I literally had to pour the sauce/grease out to eat it. Otherwise no complaints. I’d like to come back and sit down at their patio sometime, which was a nice atmosphere and dog friendly.
