The food started off strong. The antipasti was delicious, and the pappardelle pasta was rich and perfectly cooked. The kitchen is clearly capable of delivering high quality dishes.
However, the service completely overshadowed the experience. I waited around 20 minutes for the antipasti and then another 45 minutes for the pasta, with no communication about the delays. Dining alone makes you especially aware of timing, and the long gaps made the meal feel unnecessarily dragged out.
The man serving me seemed completely disengaged, with no smile, no interaction, and a very nonchalant attitude throughout. He did not check in once, and when I politely asked if I could move to another table, my request was ignored. Since I was seated outside, drunk partygoers from the club next door were repeatedly catcalling him throughout the afternoon, which created an awkward and chaotic atmosphere. It happened many times and became quite distracting. Regardless of what was happening around him, that should not translate into poor service or dismissive behaviour toward paying customers.
To end the meal, I ordered the tiramisu, which was unfortunately disappointing. It lacked flavour and did not live up to the standard set by the earlier dishes.
I honestly felt invisible the entire time. It is disappointing because there is clearly potential here, but the inconsistent service and underwhelming dessert left a sour final impression
The food? No misses. All the pastas hit, but the fettuccine is the clear standout — rich, silky, and gone before you realise what’s happened.
The bread is mandatory. Not optional. Order it and use it to wipe every last drop of sauce off the plate like a true professional. Add the smoked ling dip and suddenly the table goes quiet — everyone’s too busy scooping.
Despite the New Year madness, service held up well and dishes came out fast enough to erase the wait-time trauma.
Bonus points for sitting outside watching the crowd flow past — honestly not a bad way to spend New Year’s Day with good food and a full table.
Busy, loud, chaotic — and absolutely worth it. Book ahead or bring patience and an appetite.
The first time, four adults went together. The staff were friendly and the food was great, which is why I decided to come back with my daughters.
Most of the dishes were still good, but while eating the vongole pasta, I kept biting into small pieces of shell. I had to spit them out into a napkin as I ate. I thought to myself that I should never order this menu again, but I didn’t say anything to the staff.
However, when I paid the bill of $137.50 by card, I couldn’t forget the unpleasant look from a young white woman at the counter. It made me feel as if she didn’t like the way my children and I were dressed.
This is what can describe Bar Totti’s.
We went there on a Sunday for lunch, as a family of 8. We had pre-booked so we moved quickly through the queue which forms outside.
We were looked after by Catherine and her colleagues who provided excellent service. The drinks and then the food arrived reasonably quickly.
All the items were very well presented, authentic and delicious. The simplest item – the bread – is a delight to look at, feel with hands and eat!
Vegetarians like us will love the place – there is so much choice of dishes. We chose to share all our dishes within the family.
The drinks were good too – in particular the Melone Fizz I chose.
Between 7 adults, our bill was about $615 including a 10% Sunday surcharge and $5.80 CC surcharge.
I would happily dine here again – specially for a special occasion!
A special mention to Brian, who delivered genuinely exceptional service. He was attentive and friendly. He made the experience well looked after.
The vibe is energetic and fun, though it does get slightly noisy when it’s busy—more “buzzing bar atmosphere” than quiet dinner. If you’re after great food, excellent service, and a lively setting, Bar Totti’s is a great choice.
The only downside was that the pasta came out very late. We had already finished all the other food and were about to cancel the pasta and leave, but it came out just in time It was a bit salty, but overall the food tasted really good.
My host ordered a generous selection of antipasto followed by the lamb as our main, and wow—what an experience. Every morsel was melt-in-your-mouth tender and packed with incredible flavour. Simple, confident cooking done exceptionally well.
Definitely one for a return visit. My one tip: make a reservation if you can—this place is popular for very good reason. ️✨
