Been going here for years on our beach vacations to Plum Island and MM is new and improved under new ownership! The food is as filling and delicious as ever, with generous servings and something for everyone in the family. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and very attentive. The new owners have already added more seating and will add more yet. Don’t miss it, and definitely wait for a seat if they’re bustling. Your belly will be happy you did!

Decided to drive out from Newburyport to PI for brunch and what a rewarding decision. This place was like eating at your friends mums kitchen. Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere and the food was fresh and made with love. The hash was delicious, often it can be quite heavy / fatty / overbearing and it was none of these. The mayo / sauce was light and had a real jazz on the tastebuds. Only downside (although honestly if I was better prepared it would be an upside is it’s BYOB)

As a longtime Plum Islander and a local restaurant owner, I don’t give praise lightly — but Mad Martha’s Café earned it today.
The Hash Reuben was outstanding: house-made corned beef hash, Swiss, sauerkraut, Dijon, and 1000 Island on marble rye. Comfort food done right, with real care and attention to detail.
Mad Martha’s is a true Plum Island staple, and meals like this are exactly why locals keep coming back. Highly recommend.

We spend the summers on PI and have been eating here for decades. Love it, and pleased to see it’s even better under new ownership. Love the new layout and the new owners are super sweet. And it’s actually clean now! I have to admit, sometimes it was a little dirty prior to these owners. They were starting off the menu a bit lighter as they get their footing with no specials, but they will get there. Would much prefer higher quality and a smaller menu to start. I think this cozy place is going to be even more popular now. Expect a wait on weekends.

I work on PI regularly in the winter and have family on PI…I dropped in today while working because I remembered years ago I got a BLT on sourdough with avocado, and I wanted one today. It was even better than I remembered. Fresh mixed greens with fresh avocado, perfectly grilled sourdough with bacon and cherry tomatoes…off the charts!?

Adorable place, great breakfast options and some fun choices. The corn beef hash is made fresh daily and was perfect. Not too much potato! Pouched eggs poached perfectly. My husband had the special. Fruit was great and pancakes looked fab!!!

Staff were friendly, food was good. A cute, very small cafe by the beach. A note for dog owners – no dogs are allowed at the outdoor picnic tables. Staff told us this was due to state laws that consider the outdoor area to be part of the restaurant. Interesting since we eat on outdoor patios with our pup all across the state and even in Newburyport.

This place is an absolute gem. I’m visiting from California but grew up on the east coast and this place was exactly what I dreamed of when I came back. It’s a cozy breakfast joint with sweet people working and amazing food. Had an amazing breakfast and then came back for lunch and had this epic blt. It has this stewed tomato topper that is just so good. Same ladies were working and they remembered me and it was amazing. Definitely come here anytime you’re in the area 10/10

Wonderful, creative and fun place to eat with a great collection of funky salt & pepper shakers. Fabulous food! Owners and service are terrific. Get there early or you may have to wait a bit, especially on weekends.
