Passing through town and got a hazelnut latte. Milk was not frothed well and expresso used was overflowing in the drop cup which made the $7 drink taste very sour; I should have said something when I saw it. Clean cafe and pastries looked very delicious. Young lady that helped me was very kind, maybe just needs more training on preparing coffees? Place has great reviews so I will try again next time I am passing through.

when you’re just so hungry because you’ve been lake-ing all day that you’re about to keel over, crawl your way to sweet river cafe. treat yourself to a seat outside next to the flowers and get a whiff of that floral scented air. the person working was super sweet and after taking our order, asked if my precious dog child wanted anything and brought her a water bowl. thank you! the chicken salad croissant with chips was fabulous – nice and light and buttery and oh so good! treat yourself to a 3 for $5 mini cupcake deal. you can’t go wrong! just pop em right in your mouth! those frostings are amazing – light and creamy! so once you’re done tanning, water skiing, boating, fishing, whatever – go get yourself a nice meal at this nice cafe.

We are long time customers of this restaurant and also just experienced a private Macaron Class hosted by Christi. I had such a great time learning how to make these, the tips and tricks and the best part was spending time with my teen daughter doing one of the few things she will do with me. First time through. The New London-Spicer area is peak small town Americana. Friendly, attentive. I pulled over to make a phone call along the roadside and a farmer stopped to ask if I needed assistance. Sweet River Cafe along New London’s Main Street is no departure from the plot.

Not sure where in the world do they find such great pastry chef at this little local diner. We ordered 7 different kinds of cake. All of them are incredible star chef quality cake. You need to pre order if you want an entire cake. I see that they have beautiful little tarts as well

My wife and I really enjoyed lunch at Sweet River on a quiet Thursday afternoon in the week before Christmas. Such friendly and courteous staff! The food was a tremendous value. It was excellent. I had a basic chicken sandwich and loved it. I also had some of my wife’s chicken wild rice soup. Yep, loved that too. Congrats on this great part of main street New London. Can’t wait to visit again.
