We visited this restaurant and the experience was excellent. It is a very elegant place and the food is truly delicious. From the moment you arrive, you can notice the attention to detail: the staff takes the time to ask if you have any allergies and they explain each dish you choose, which makes the experience even more special.

The menu is inspired by traditional cuisine from the state of Oaxaca, but presented with a more gourmet touch. The flavors are authentic while also refined.

In addition, the atmosphere is very calm and pleasant, perfect for having a conversation and enjoying your meal at a relaxed pace. It is definitely a place worth visiting if you are looking for great food and a different dining experience.

Xochi’s Sunday buffet is an incredible way to taste a wide range of dishes from one of Houston’s most reputable restaurants. It’s a beautiful space and feels special the moment you walk in, which makes it perfect for a celebratory meal — especially after a big weekend or milestone.

The staff were professional, friendly, and attentive throughout the entire visit. Definitely make a reservation; the buffet is popular, and there’s live music on Sundays that adds a really lovely atmosphere.

The food itself was very good, with excellent flavors and a fun variety of dishes. The guacamole and cold salads were standouts — fresh, bright, and delicious. The biggest disappointment temperature: most items on the buffet were room temperature unless they had just come out steaming hot. If everything had been served hot, the meal would have been truly exceptional. It is such a shame because there is a lot of hard work that goes into the dishes: the fish was standout for me!

That said, the dessert buffet was the undeniable star of the show. The variety, presentation, and flavors were all fantastic — easily one of the most memorable parts of the experience.

A great way to sample the breadth of Xochi’s menu and enjoy a festive, elevated Sunday meal!

We visited on a Sunday during one of their busiest times and were pleasantly surprised that we didn’t have to wait at all — which was amazing! Everything was delicious and exceeded our expectations. The gentleman who helped me was incredibly kind and attentive. I’m assuming he was the manager since he was dressed more casually rather than in an apron or uniform. His service truly stood out. I would definitely come back again if I’m ever in downtown Houston

Tried multiple vegetarian options including queso de rancho, tacos, and enchiladas. Everything was okayish—flavorful but not mind-blowing. The ambiance was lovely though. But wow, the guava cheesecake totally stole the show. Creamy, balanced sweetness, tropical, and absolutely a banger dessert. Would return just for that.

The service was impeccable and the food was truly outstanding. I had a reservation for two, and although my guest arrived a little late, they graciously seated me right away—something many restaurants no longer accommodate.

Our server was incredibly sweet and patient, taking the time to walk us through the menu and offer thoughtful recommendations as first-time visitors. I ordered the sangria and guacamole tostadas. The tostadas were extra crunchy, but still enjoyable, and the flavors were excellent.

Brunch was especially impressive—the variety alone was exciting, and they offer options to accommodate virtually every dietary preference.

The location, right next to Discovery Green, provides a lovely view, adding to the overall experience. Since it was Valentine’s Day, they also had a beautiful photo backdrop set up, which was a thoughtful touch. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience with exceptional food and truly great service.

We went to Xochi to celebrate my father-in-law’s birthday and had a very good experience. I ordered the Barbacoa de res de Zaachila, and the mole was the highlight—rich, well-balanced, and noticeably velvety in texture. The dish was prepared carefully and tasted exactly as it should.

I also had the Spiced Pluma, which was refreshing and nicely balanced, with a gentle spice that didn’t overwhelm the drink. Service was prompt and attentive throughout the meal, and the downtown location is convenient. We enjoyed it and plan to eat there again soon. Highly recommend!

It was my first time trying Oaxacan food, and I’m glad we visited Xochi! The mole and octopus was delicious! Drinks were also creative and the cacao dessert exceeded my expectations. An absolute must try! (FYI they have valet parking which is easier and more affordable than the nearby lot parking).

Incredible food and a 90% gluten free menu. Our service was great, food came quickly. Very busy on a Friday night but we got a seat at the bar easily. Delicious food, great cocktail selection, lots of mezcal options. Cool ambiance.

Xochi is stellar! First time having purely Oaxacan cuisine and it was great. You MUST start with the Mole sampler; I didn’t even know so many varieties of Mole exist! They were all delish and so different from each other, yet I couldn’t pick a favorite because I loved them all.

For my main I had the Barbacoa de Res de Zaachila which I really enjoyed. The rolled tenderloin was really cool and it was just a well rounded dish.

For dessert if I’m gonna get anything here it’s gonna be chocolate. So we got the Cremoso de Chocolate, some Mexican Hot Chocolate, and Churros on the side. Everything was fire and I would have again.

Began with a mezcal Paloma that was well balanced. Had the beef cheek bar bite which was perfectly cooked, the greens were a little gritty but the fresh blue corn tortillas were incredibly perfect for leaving no mole behind. I got the mushroom and goat cheese tortilla with a different mood, also delicious. I ended my meal with a chocolate pudding with a chocolate cake that was far from a death by chocolate and more of a quiet seduction by chocolate. Very good.
