Waitress was not very helpful, or knowledgeable about the menu, didn’t take time to ask if we wanted desert, or show us what they had, definitely not making it possible to upsell, or even just the basics. Brought water, rather than also asking what we wanted to drink, maybe she just started, food was mediocre and portions were tiny. Music was good

The food here is decent. It certainly is edible. The service is pretty awful. I’d say it’s gone downhill since last year. I waited an honest five minutes after walking inside before being acknowledged in an empty restaurant. All it takes is “sir we’ll be right with you.” I shouldn’t have to ask for napkins. I’m not surprised the tip jar is empty.

Came in for the first night of causioki, my first night here I met Bob and his wife. We did karaoke together and they were extremely personable! Tonight we met B, it was his first night back after months of recovery from a broken limb and he killed it! He made me a personal drink.
Service was quick and friendly, he personally thanked me at the end of the night. I never had a bad experience here, every server I’ve ever had has been absolutely lovely. I plan on making this place a regular occurrence on my schedule, and I hope you do too!

We ordered a pizza which came out extremely burnt. The waitress put it on the table and bolted. We were just staring at each other. The place wasn’t busy it was just the 2 of us and another table with 4 people. The waitress never came back to check on us or ask if we needed anything else, a drink would have been nice! Finally after sitting there for well over 30 min, she comes back & says you all set you ready for the bill? We told her our pizza was very burnt. We even flipped a few pieces over so she could see the bottom. She says oh I’m very sorry about that. She grabs the pizza with her hands and puts it in a. pizza box and puts the bill on the table. Then says have a good night & walks off! We won’t be going back! Disappointed, disbelief just wow! I would post a picture but it won’t let me.

Wow, I don’t even know where to start. The food is top notch and the atmosphere is perfect. James (the owner), his daughter Kasey (whom tends the bar), and the rest of the Grotto staff are simply amazing and so attentive.
My wife and I had our wedding, after party at the Grotto from 10:45pm-1am (probably later as we were not remotely rushed out). It is so spacious and we had around 125 guests and easily could have fit more. All the food was ready to go and presented beautifully as soon as our guests arrived. James was so accommodating and was one of those vendors that helped us pull together some amazing food, karaoke, and overall great vibes for this joyous occasion. As if James did not already make this a stress free process for us, he actually helped us so much more. More than he probably even realizes. One day, he called us to tell us that he had gotten a short bus to use for transportation and would be happy to help us shuttle for our wedding. He took my wife and her bridesmaids from their Air B n’ B to the wedding ceremony down the road at the Barn on the Pemi. When we asked him to also give us a lift late night, after the after party back to our hotel, he did not blink an eye and was on it. He did the perfect amount of checking in with us to make sure our after party was running smoothly and how we wanted it to without making us feel overwhelmed. In fact he did the opposite and made us feel so comfortable and loved. The hospitality shown was remarkable.
I cannot recommend James and the Grotto enough. If you need a venue to host an event, or just pop in on any given day or night for a drink and some tasty food this is the place to do it! There are so many great beers on tap and so many well crafted cocktail options, and plenty of NA options. Also there are things on the menu for everyone to enjoy, whether you are vegan or have allergies and/or food sensitivities, they have options for you.
My wife and I had also enjoyed a few delicious apps and pizza at the Grotto before we even booked this location as our after party.
To James and his amazing staff, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Nice. Open late into the night, specially given it’s the state of NH where everything is pretty much closed by 9pm. Extremely pocket friendly and great options to choose from. Took shrimp fettuccine w/ lemon butter sauce (picatta pasta) and shrimp sphagetti w/ garlic pesto sauce, and would recommend both. Also, lovely vibes with live music!

The pizza and grinder sandwich was excellent along with two appetizers. The child seat given to us was nasty and we had to ask for it to be cleaned. The server acted like we were bothering her. Not sure what the issue was, but it took forever for the waitress to come over to ask about drinks and then took 5 min to get them while she was chatting with another server for 2 min. The server never came over to find out how things tasted and we had to ask for plates to be removed.

Did not provide a no spill cup for a 4-year-old or a booster seat. Staff seemed untrained and unfamiliar with menu. Appetizers took forever. Meal was over an hour and a half and the place wasn’t even crowded. Got overcharged on the bill. Go back to restaurant fail, Grotto! This local is NOT coming back!
