I have been a loyalist at Roc South for years. Usually, I am a creature of habit—it is the fried snapper sandwich or just fish and two sides every single time because I love it so much. But this past Thursday, I was feeling adventurous.
My husband ordered the 4 chicken wings, collard greens, and macaroni and cheese. One look at his plate and I immediately changed my order and said, “I will have the same thing!” Everybody looked at me and said, “Are you sure?” I said, “Yeah, I am sure.” When I tell you my food was so good! It was a very large portion for me, I could only eat 2 of the wings and I took the other 2 home and had them for lunch the next day along with the rest of my sides. It was so good, y’all!
The macaroni and cheese tastes like somebody in my family made it. Salute to the family in the kitchen! The service is also great. I had to pull up a picture of my drink from the last time because I could not remember the name, and it was so good. They have two types of drinks, lemonades and margaritas, and I had a D’Ussé Margarita. It is so cute and it has fresh blueberries floating in it. I only got it because I love blueberries so much. It is not a puree, it is actual blueberries, though you can ask for puree if you want.
This is a true family restaurant. While we were there, an older man with multiple generations of his family was celebrating his birthday. It was so nice to see. If you have not been here yet, you are missing out! ✨
The service was impeccable, but the real star was the food. I started with an Old Fashioned which was perfectly mixed, and ordered the pork chop for my main. It was incredible—easily one of the best I’ve had. It had a perfect smoky grilled flavor and the sides (brussels sprouts and butternut squash) complemented it perfectly with that apple rosemary jus.
If you’re in the neighborhood and looking for great modern Southern food with a view, this is the spot. Highly recommend sitting at the bar!
The cornbread muffins, sweet tea and “Perfect Burger” were I dare say PERFECT, as always, and honestly a big part of why I keep coming back. Consistently good food, great ambiance, and a spot I’ll continue to revisit.
I used the parking lot today, usually take MARTA, and the access through the lobby of the adjoining hotel was great! Will def be back!
The bar itself was impressive and offered good service. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely come back
