In addition to the great meal, what really stood out was the service — attentive and friendly without being overbearing. It elevated the whole experience.
I enjoyed it so much that when I returned to town, I brought my dad and my pup to the dog-friendly patio for dinner for another wonderful experience. The setting, the food, and the atmosphere make this a place I’ll happily return to again.
The waiter had enough insight to put the sauce that was usually on the sirloin, in a separate side bowl. Which I really really appreciated. The sauce had a bit of a kick to it, and I wouldn’t have enjoyed the sirloin as much it if it was covered in the sauce.
Beautiful location!!
After finishing our meal, we asked our waiter for the bill, which he promptly brought to the table. We placed the bill and cash on the table, ready to pay. However, the waiter became engaged with another table. After waiting approximately 5–7 minutes, I stepped away to use the restroom, assuming he would return shortly.
When I returned, I observed three hostesses (one of whom appeared to be a manager) standing a short distance from our table, watching my husband and whispering among themselves. At first, I dismissed it, but it quickly became apparent that both of us were being closely monitored. The waiter was still occupied with another table, while the hostesses continued to stare at us, which gave the clear impression that we were suspected of attempting to leave without paying.
To avoid further discomfort, I interrupted the waiter and handed him the cash we had already placed on the table. As we exited, the hostesses walked toward the door behind us and wished us a good day.
Experiencing racial profiling is always disheartening, but it was especially disappointing on my birthday. I want to be clear that I am not seeking a discount or complimentary meal. My purpose in writing is to bring attention to this experience in hopes that management may review and improve existing protocols.
If there is ever concern about a guest’s intent to pay, a simple and respectful check-in such as asking whether the table is ready to settle the bill would be far more appropriate than prolonged staring or whispering. Additionally, guests who intend to leave without paying typically do not leave cash visibly on the table. While I understand that dine-and-dash incidents do occur, they should not be assumed based on race.
Thank you for taking the time to review this feedback.
