Duner’s is a casual fine dining restaurant located five miles west of Charlottesville in the village of Ivy, Virginia. Our menu changes daily, allowing our chefs to use the best ingredients seasonally available. We have an extensive wine list, a full bar and a very experienced service staff. Established in 1983, our goal has always been to serve great food in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Our portions are generous, our ingredients are the finest and we want everyone who walks in the door to become a regular customer!

My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary here, and the food was wonderful! They had a little bit of a delay in preparing our table but promptly and proactively provided us sparkling wine for while we waited. I loved everything we ordered, and we very much look forward to coming back soon.

This was one of the best fine dining experiences I’ve ever had. The food and service were impeccable. I highly recommend the pork chop and lump crab cakes. The drinks were also very good. The bartender was excellent. He came.from behind the bar to recommend a better drink choice than the one I made and he war right. If you’re ever in the Charlottesville area I highly recommend this place!!

Where to begin, an absolutely comforting and elegant dinner experience from the moment you walk in. Kat was our waitress, super knowledgeable with excellent service skills. Everything she recommended including the desserts were immaculate. Our Somm was so great and taught us so much, dropped factoids in and making the wine experience fun.
Musts:
– the fried quail was phenomenal, first time having quail and it was just out of this world.
– can vouch for the strip, tuna, tenderloin, & duck. Haven’t tried the rest but based on how good the entree’s we did try were, you can’t go wrong.
– coconut cake is the best way to end the night.

My boyfriend and I came in for our anniversary and the service was just impeccable. The staff added personal touches that added to our wonderful evening! The food was delicious and affordable and the environment was the perfect mix of upscale and homey. Our waitress was kind, personable, and went above and beyond (as did the pastry chef!).

Great little gem in C-Ville. Pork chops were outstanding. Nice wine list, casual feel as it used to be a house. Chef does a great job, you can’t go wrong here with anything on the menu.
Went back for another fabulous dinner. If the pork chop is on the menu, it’s a must have. Come with fried jalapeño Mac n cheese.
And the baked baked salmon was pretty good, not anything over the top.
Overall, still a great experience and well worth the time.

Excellent food and service! The poached pear salad, bacon wrapped monkfish, and pumpkin cake were to die for! However, their complimentary bread was rather dense. Perhaps under-proofed or made with expired yeast. The consistency wasn’t airy like you would expect, but thick like playdough. You can even see what I’m talking about in my photo. I could only stomach a few bites. Hopefully that’s not how they always make it.

A true establishment! Wonderfully warm service, good portions of creatively cooked seafood and steak, fun appetizer options (get the rockfish tostada!) and a great shareable dessert menu (ice cream sandwich is a standout). Get a reservation, they do fill up! Space has a lot of character and cool touches from their decades of history too.

Let me start by saying I USED to love this place! I would eat here as a student at UVA for very special occasions and always had fond memories. However, we returned recently after many years and the experience was very disappointing. Our waitress forgot about us for long stretches of time and the meal dragged on and on as if we were forgotten. We had our children with us (12 and 9) who are used to eating out and are very patient but we still had to approach the waitress and ask for our orders to be taken. And even then, after ordering it took them >30+ minutes to bring out their food….and we’re talking buttered noodles with some parmesan cheese since they didn’t have any child friendly options. I had to ask our waitress to please check and bring their food ASAP and when it did arrive it was cold!
It was just a series of service errors….culminating in like a 3+ hour meal for 2 just courses. Ridiculous. The food does taste good but they gotta get their service game together. Maybe the server was new but it just felt like she wasn’t sensitive to our needs at all. And then, what’s really shady is that AFTER we left, I get an Open Table email that our reservation (which I had personally checked in for with the host) was miraculously cancelled. I emailed the restaurant and they had no response. I think it’s because they didn’t want us being able to leave a bad Open Table review.
I doubt we’ll go back…which is sad for me because it always had a special place in my heart.
