J9 is hands down one of the best bars around! The atmosphere is always inviting, the drinks are top-notch, and the service is exceptional. Lisa is absolutely fantastic—she’s friendly, attentive, and always makes sure everyone has a great time.

Watch your receipt hidden charges on every drink!
Just a heads-up to anyone coming here: they add a $2 service charge to every single drink even when you pay cash. I was quoted $5 for a Jameson shot, but when I looked at the receipt, I was charged $7. Same drink, same round two different prices.
When I asked the staff about it, I was told the drink is $5 plus a $2 service fee. Nowhere is that posted or mentioned beforehand. That’s misleading. And when I brought it up, the response I got was, “Well, anywhere else you’d be paying $9.” I said, “Not at a dive bar. I pay $5 in Norman,” and the guy tells me I should probably go there then.
I’m not mad about the price I’m frustrated at the lack of transparency. If you’re charging a service fee, tell people up front. Post it. Say something when asked the price. Don’t hit people with surprise charges and act like it’s normal.
I’ve got the receipts to back all of this up. Be aware and check your bill before you pay.

Friendly place but too Smokey for me. I park out back and stay on back patio to avoid smelling like smoke when I leave. I like the people though. Very welcoming. Would definitely go more often but lots of the people I go out with will not go to a smoking bar.

J9 Tavern is one of the coolest little bars in Guthrie. Tommy the owner is nice and friendly, goes around and interacts with and cares about his customers. Bartenders are great, so it the food. Good seating, 2 areas with pool tables, a huge covered back porch/patio. Plus live music on the weekends. 10/10 recommend.
