We ordered a few Banh mis and some salad rolls from Ba Le. It tasted very good and fresh. My team really enjoyed the chicken Banh mi. The bread was also very nicely baked. Overall probably some of the best Banh mi in Vancouver.

Ordered a lemongrass pork banh mi with extra pickled vegetables online for pickup and came in at the assigned 40 minute pickup time to find my sandwich must have been sitting there for awhile. (Bread was not crispy anymore, but it tasted alright.)
Sandwich-assembling cooks were not wearing hair nets/hats. Found a hair embedded in the pork of my sandwich.
Counterstaff at the Broadway location are friendlier/more attentive.

Good banh mi sandwiches here. They are quite filling and tasty. The bread is super crunchy too. The matcha coffee was okay.

My wife has been wanting to try the coconut coffee here for months since they’ve opened this new location. Her standards have been set by Cong Cafe in Saigon, Vietnam while we were on Vacation there this past November. Unfortunately not very comparable. Ive been buying from Ba Le for over 30yrs since their original location on Kingsway and Fraser so I know their quality of banh mi.

However, this review is based on the drink. We will try their other drinks next time and give comparison. One word of advice….smile! Staff works hard I know, but you still gotta give that extra effort to smile. Make the customers feel welcome. Otherwise the decor and atmosphere is very nice .

I was craving bahn mi after a long hike, and this spot looked very promising. It was very busy inside but it took them less than ten minutes for us to get our three sandwiches and two coffees.

The bread itself is great. It’s flakey and has a very satisfying crunch while still being fluffy. A good baguette should always leave you covered in crumbs. We got the lemongrass beef, lemongrass chicken, and the house special. I would not recommend the lemongrass beef. It didn’t have much filling compared to the other two bahn mi’s we got. The beef was thin and also quite dry. The lemongrass chicken is the complete opposite — plenty of chicken in the sandwich and very juicy. The house special is named that for a reason — absolutely delicious and my personal favourite of the three.

We got the ube coconut coffee and pandan latte. The coffee is excellent. The ube coconut foam doesn’t mix so easily, and it kind of just settles on top of the ice halfway through. There is a lot of ice. It does make me question how much of my cup is actually coffee, but it’s so good that I’d say it’s still well worth its price.

***update: prices increased by $1 as of April 1, 2025***

The meatball special is simply delicious.

While not the biggest banh mi I’ve gotten around Vancouver, but it’s still a good size given the price. Should be sufficient for dinner as long as you’re not starving. I do wish they’d be more generous with the ingredients of course.

Friendly service and clean environment. Self serve order kiosks are also available if you’re not in the mood to interact with anyone, which is a plus

The best one.

We’ve always loved Bale. But I have to say. This one is the best. The bread is crispy. The Veggies are plentiful and the banh mi’s are tasty. Fast polite staff. Definitely worth driving to this one as the quality is better.

I’ve been a Ba Le customer for 18 years. I was very happy when they opened on Rupert and my family and I frequent this location once a week. This review is solely based on my last couple of visits. I am giving them 2 stars for improper food storage. The last 2 months I’ve noticed that they leave their salad rolls just on the counter. They used to put it in the front cooler but for some reason proper storage is too much of a hassle. Last time I mentioned this to the teller, they responded with an, “Ok.” Yesterday when I raised the issue again, I received a sour dismissive attitude.

She told me that the rolls were made in the morning. I came at 12:30. Shrimp and cold cuts in room temperature on hot summer days spell, food poisoning. Do better Ba Le!

Banned (since July 2024) bioplastics/oxo degradable cutlery is provided here. All clean paper products seem to go straight into garbage. This establishment can do much better.

High volume restaurant with great sandwiches and nostalgic taste.

Restaurant needs more to enforce delivery drivers not parking past the no-stopping sign in front of the restaurant as this disrupts right-turning traffic and is a huge safety hazard.

Ba Le is amazing! Their rebrand and glow up is impressive and their offerings are better than ever. Hanoi Drip is an awesome addition and they’re always consistent in flavor. Highly recommend!
