This is my third time vacationing on Emerald Isle, but my first time eating here. Because of the quality of service, the quality of food, and the overall atmosphere, I will be back on future visits.
I had The Moose, which was DELICIOUS and one of the best sandwiches I have ever had in my 30 years. I also love the fact that tater tots are offered.

We just decided this year to try a new beach out. So finding good restaurants can be a very stressful thing. And who doesn’t love a good burger? We had a excellent experience. Our waitress was very sweet and tentative. The burgers and cheesesteak were delicious. Everything was hot and fresh and the biggest thing everything was made correctly to each person’s custom order. Would definitely recommend and will be returning next year.

We’ve been here several times on our trips to the area in the past few years. The food is always absolutely delicious. We like the steak and cheese (10 times better than Subway) or burgers – both melt in your mouth. And the fresh, not just fountain lemonade. We’ve had excellent polite, friendly, accurate, and prompt service every time we’ve been.

My family and I ate here yesterday for dinner and I was a little worried about the place because there wasn’t too many people in the place when we arrived, but it filled up as we were there. We are from Texas and we are staying on the island and we wanted something the whole family could eat and we were not disappointed! The fries and tots were delicious and the burgers were sooooo good! So if you are from out of town and looking for a solid place to eat then choose this place!

The staff was very friendly. However, the food was very lackluster. My wife and I both ordered some sandwiches to go. When we got home to enjoy the food (10 mins), the bread was practically falling apart. McDonalds has better quality food in our opinion.

Lemme tell you a thing or two about Hwy 55. It’s a burger restaurant with a good variety of other delicious food like hot dogs, chicken, and surprisingly good shrimp. If you’ve never been in one, then I HIGHLY recommend this one.
I live here on Emerald Isle but I’ve been to other Hwy 55’s in the past and the quality of this particular one is amazing. Not only is the food great with a neat 50’s themed interior, but the staff and service is phenomenal. The waiters and waitresses are incredible and consistent, and the cooks are too, absolutely no one falls short it seems. Ivy, who, in every single time I’ve been there has given me the best experience at a restaurant I’ve ever had, consistently. Not only Ivy but everyone who has ever waited on me has been fantastic, not just in their personality but also their work. I’ve never had a bad experience in the 3 years I’ve been coming. If I could I would write a review about how amazing every single staff member. Honestly you don’t even need to read about it, believe me, when you’re there you’ll see for yourself.
It’s difficult to imagine that a good old fashioned burger joint can provide such an awesome experience. I mean it obviously has I’ve been here for about 20 minutes writing this review. I suppose this is less of a review and more of a love letter to Hwy 55 and all it’s incredible staff including the owners who I have to thank for making this place how great it is. I hope that this was all well worth it and that the people who work here and who decide to go here can get a sense of how amazing of a place this is. I know I do.
Before writing this review I picked up my order and now I’m hungry. I’m gonna go finish my favorite order : A Pimento Cheeseburger w/ Bacon, Grilled Jalapeno & Onion with Fries and 2 cups of mayo.

Food was very low quality. Ordered a lemonade and had to ask the nice cashier/waitress (she seemed to be doing it all) if i could please have a different drink. i felt bad asking since it was busy, but the lemonade tasted like either the machine hasn’t been cleaned in a VERY long time or the mixture was very off. Will not be coming back, very disappointed and just glad I didn’t spend too much money at least /: Threw out the food due to the poor quality. The cheese fries were overwhelming smothered in plastic tasting american cheese, and my burger was literally smashed sown. the possible lack of sanitation from the lemonade also just didn’t sit right with me. obviously some management, cleanliness, and quality control issues going on at this location. sorry.

I just ate there with my family. We must have caught them at a bad time, but a good cleaning was definitely needed….only reason for 4 stars. The food was really good and clean, tots were perfectly crisp, burgers and sandwiches were great…milkshakes were perfectly thick. The staff was also quick and pleasant. We have been coming down here for vaca every year since 2002 and the food has always been consistently good. The decor hasnt changed, and doesnt need too.
