Consuelo is a fantastic Mexican restaurant where we enjoyed traditional dishes prepared to perfection. Everything was delicious, starting with a fresh, flavorful ceviche. The standout was the grilled octopus — absolutely superb. The interior decor is lovely and makes you feel great while dining. Our waiter, Walter, provided exemplary service — I’d rate him a solid five-plus. Top-level service all around. Highly recommended.

We went here over a month ago and I meant to post… so here it is a bit late! The food was outstanding! Different from your regular fare. Our waiter was a super help as he shared some of the star appetizers and entrees. We were there for lunch, so it was quiet. Great atmosphere and I appreciated the purse racks next to the table. Sometimes, it’s the little things.

We have been eating at Consuelo for years & have never had anything we didn’t like. Consistently great quality food and service in a professionally run restaurant. The guacamole & fresh chips fantastic, along with the enchilada trio & tacos. The ceviche is delicious & the margarita flight is a must try! Buen provecho!

Wow! This place really pays attention to detail in every aspect. The service was impeccable and friendly, the restaurant was clean, and the decor very cool, and (last, but not least) the food was off the chain! everything is made in house and very fresh. You can tell when you take your first bite. The cocktail menu was also really special. Do yourself a favor and check this place out!

We had a great first experience at Consuelo’s in Gainesville. We stopped in for the small plate lunch and a couple cocktails and everything was excellent. The food tasted incredibly fresh and truly homemade, with great flavor in every dish we tried.

Our server, Michael, made the visit even better. Since it was our first time, he walked us through the menu and offered a few suggestions that turned out to be spot-on. His recommendations were perfect and he was friendly, attentive and professional throughout the meal.

If you’re looking for fresh, flavorful food and great service, Consuelo’s is definitely worth a visit. We’ll absolutely be back.

Dined at Consuelo during Gainesville’s First Fridays and loved every bite. As someone who recently moved from NJ, I’ve been impressed by the Mexican cuisine in Georgia—Consuelo stands out.

Just off the town square, the restaurant has a sleek, modern vibe. We shared a bottle of red wine (reasonably priced), and the food was fresh and flavorful. The chicken enchiladas verdes were hearty and delicious, chips and guac were spot-on, and the empanadas hit the mark. We ended with their Tres Leches cake—light, sweet, and topped with berries.

Our waitress was friendly and fun, even packed up our wine so we could enjoy the rest in the square. Great food, great service—definitely worth a visit.

I had the pleasure of dining at Consuelo recently, and I can’t say enough great things about the experience! We were seated incredibly fast, even without a reservation, which was a fantastic surprise, given how busy the restaurant was. The service was outstanding—our server, Nancy – was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and even asked about food allergies, which made us feel genuinely cared for.

Our drinks came out in no time, and I have to mention the horchata—hands down the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly balanced, smooth, and refreshing! The food followed shortly after, and considering how bustling the place was, the wait time was impressively short. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the portions were just right.

The whole experience was seamless from start to finish. Consuelo has definitely earned a spot as one of my go-to restaurants, and I’ll absolutely be returning soon!

Stumbled upon this charming and delicious restaurant in the heart of downtown Gainesville. The food was so good! Our late lunch arrival made us the only ones in the restaurant. I loved the fresh guacamole and the salsas that came with. Our entrees were large enough for left overs and were so tasty. The place is also so instagramable and we loved our server.

Consuelo is a fantastic spot for anyone who loves fresh, flavorful food. The octopus is the real standout — perfectly cooked, tender, and full of rich, smoky flavor. The seasoning is just right, and the presentation makes it feel special. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is warm and stylish without being over the top. Definitely a place you’ll want to come back to.
