Oh what a great little place to eat! We both had the walleye and it was delicious. The fried mushrooms for appetizers were the best I’ve had. We had plenty to take home for a meal later. Very reasonable prices. We will be back soon .

Finally tried Tailwinds in Findlay, IL. Just a short drive into town from Lake Shelbyville. Been open since 1987. One of the newer owners was there as the chef last night. Tim was more than happy to show off his cool space. It’s spotless. Used to be a bank The old vault is now the refrigerated beer cooler. Gabby was our bartender & server. Her mother & she own 12-Layers bakery across the street. Try the homemade pie, trust me! Vintage wooden props & photos of planes adorn the space as decoration. Friendly locals strike up conversation with other tables between cocktails & glasses of wine. What a perfect date night spot for those looking to mingle with new friends. Thanks for having us! We will definitely be back.

First time dining inside. Clean, friendly staff. Not sure if there are new owners, but the menu has had some changes. Food is still good. We had the fried mushroom appetizer, my husband had an American burger with blue cheese and American fries, I had a BBLT with green beans and bacon. Everything was delicious.

Amaazing food! The whole experience from start to finish was great. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. The food was delicious and the prices are fair for the portion size. Always a great spot to get great food. We enjoyed the walleye. I noticed chicken was a popular choice for many people in the restaurant so I’m thinking about trying it next time.

Hidden gem in Findlay. Always great food service and value. Their broasted chicken is delicious! Their peanut butter pie is the best.

What a great place. Ordered fried greenbean appitizer and it was out within a few minutes, hot and fresh. I hate a long wait. Took our order right away and again fresh, hot and delivered right away. Had a Ribeye special. It was huge. Oh and they take reservations. I had a group of 6.

I don’t understand how this can be called a steak house and you only offer 2 choices of steak.
They need to hire someone who knows how to prepare and cook a steak because neither of our steaks had any flavor and they were no where near tender. There were ordered medium and they came to the table more rare and 1 was sent back 3 times and it still wasn’t cooked right.
1 person in the party had a strawberry daiquiri and it was served in a decorative water glass with whip cream on top.
We will not be going back to this place, its gone to far down hill

update:
Went again on 1/21/2023 and the food and service was horrible. Wait staff couldn’t get a very basic order correct, and the food served was terrible. Half of the order wasn’t correct.

“Ribeye” steaks were actually thin and dry sandwich steak and were ordered medium but were served very well done and were like boot leather and nearly unable to be cut with a knife (see picture). Waitress struggled with basic spoken communication and seemed impaired and was unable to take a very basic steak and potato order.

A year ago the place had quality food and service, but has nose-dived terribly since that time. Little to none of the original menu was offered, mostly frozen deep fried garbage and burgers. I will not go back ever, complete waste of both time and money. Sad to watch another restaurant join the giant heap of failed and closed places all likely due to unwillingness to pay appropriate wages to maintain quality kitchen staff and retain diners to be able to afford quality food to serve.

Unfortunately, food quality and service have continued to go downhill the last several visits here. Party of two, had a ribeye steak and salmon this visit. The steak was overcooked (ordered medium, received medium well) and very, very tough and about 30% inedible fat. The salmon was cooked fine, but had zero seasoning and did not come with a sauce per the menu description. Service was poor. Had to ask staff about 7 times to even get what we ordered, no steak knife to cut the leather like steak, no dinner rolls, no drink refills, no plates for appetizers (ridiculously small portion of greasy, twice cooked mushrooms for the price…about a dollar per each quarter sized cap), no napkins, and so on. No dishes were removed from our table the entire meal until the end. Went to the restroom near the kitchen area and the smell of marijuana coming from the kitchen was quite apparent and possibly part of the problem. Probably not returning, and suggest would-be patrons find another place to dine.
