The blend of the meat is perfect. The bacon is outstanding. The bread is just right — toasty yet warm and soft on the inside, and never flaky. The fries are excellent, too.
If you’re in for a big meal then go for the Ernie Canneli. If not, you can’t go wrong with the others — they’re also phenomenal.
Apart from the burgers, the prime rib is seriously superb. Truthfully, everything’s great at Joseph’s!
Pictured: the Ernie Canneli in all its glory.
Also menu structure was not most thought out, the meal comes with a salad or soup, but you can upgrade them. I upgraded the soup to French onion which cost $9 on the menu but the upgrade was $8, was not really worth it in my opinion.
We ordered filet mignon that came with a house salad, mashed potatoes and broccoli. I thought the salad was a little sparse – a couple of tomatoes, but the lettuce was crispy and fresh. The filet mignon was very good, perhaps a bit undercooked for how I ordered it but still very good. Same with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive, so really nothing to complain about except the atmosphere.
There are two dining rooms here but we, along with everyone else, were placed in the room that had the bar. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem except for the people going in and out to smoke, letting in a blast of cold air, that made the food ice cold in no time. There was no place in this room one could sit to escape the cold air as it had entrances/exits on both sides of the room.
Add to that the most drab, outdated, dining room I think I’ve ever encountered, along with a price tag of $100/person, and it’s more than a little disappointing. This place wants to present itself as high end, but the decor ruins that facade.
Another pet peeve of mine is unpaved parking lots. It irks me when you go to a supposedly high end place only to get your car dirty from the dust and gravel in the parking lot.
All in all I don’t think I’ve ever given a place 4 stars that I thought I would not go back to, except for this restaurant. Maybe sitting outside during summer might be nicer, but it’s difficult to believe since it’s sandwiched between two fairly busy roads.
Eventually, another staff member approached us, asked if we had a reservation, and then asked if we wanted to sit at the bar. We declined and were seated in a booth in the bar area. Every other table around us had tablecloths except ours. After being seated, another five minutes passed without anyone acknowledging us, bringing water, or even greeting us. At that point, we got up and left. I have never experienced such a lack of basic hospitality, especially with a reservation. Very disappointing experience from start to finish
I can’t rave enough about this place in general. But we tried out their fish fry menu this past Friday and it was amazing. All 3 course meals are $45 or less. We had the Salmon and the Beer Battered Cod. (Salad and dessert included) It was delicious and worth every penny. We sat bar side and had some good interactions with both bar tenders. (KIM & VAL) It was busy (we took the last 2 bar seats) but our service was fast, accurate and very accommodating. The Sinatra bar room is a very laid back feel, where the dinning hall is a little more romantic and cozy. This is a perfect date night / special night location. There regular menu is loaded with tons of great meals. They also have a bar menu as well. Several on tap beers, liquors for just about any drink & their wine selection is top notch. (try the kimmy killer)
Great food, great service. Owner was friendly and is involved in his restaurant which is always a good sign.. the women manager was also very friendly. Steaks were amazing. Calamari and risotto was super good too.
