They offer vegetarian options on the menu, which I always appreciate. I do wish there were a few more specialty veggie rolls, but there were still solid options to choose from.
The atmosphere definitely leans more toward a lounge or bar vibe, especially later in the evening. They also have a full karaoke room, which is a fun touch if you are going with a group and want more of an experience than just dinner.
Overall, a lively spot in the suburbs if you are looking for sushi with a fun, energetic atmosphere.
1. Asked questions of Shoju, the owner brings beautiful bottle to show you and give a taste! This is better service than last night at 5 star Park Hyatt restaurant!
2. The Izakaya grill chicken skin & spicy pepper, 5 star presentation and taste. 5/5
3. The chilled tofu, 6 star presentation on an iced bucket, and for a steal price. 6/5
4. The simmer fish bone, good amount of fish collar, again nice presentation. 4/5
5. Fatty Salmon Nigiri, 5/5 So what’s the secret of make JP restaurant level sashimi VS the supermarket sashimi? Different level fish, or different knife cutting technique?
6. JP music at background and nice sushi bar seat, deco is 5/5.
I’ll be back for more. A new Gem in Chicago suburb. Must try, please. I’m concerned, they don’t have enough customer to sustain their current food quality / service / price level.
People, this newly renovated new owner restaurant is a must try.
Very authentic with a wide menu. The sushi is top notch and it’s THE place to get yakitori in the Chicagoland area. I got the beef bowl tonight and I loved it so much I forgot to even take a picture of it before I devoured it.
They also have a good selection of Japanese beers, whiskeys, and even highballs and shochu cocktails!
The staff is very nice and attentive and the ambience is off the charts with lovely Japanese city pop and all the accoutrements you’d expect from an authentic Japanese izekaya.
Make sure to check the daily specials before you order and DON’T SKIP DESSERT!
I will continue to come here every time I am in Rosemont (I’m from the Philadelphia area).
Thank you.
We ordered a pretty quick meal of two sushi rolls and a slow cooked pork belly appetizer. The food was delicious and the service was great. We told our server we were trying to get to the game starting at 7 and she hit it out of the park. Will definitely consider going again if I’m in the area.
