House of Shabu Shabu is literally around the corner from our house but I haven’t been here since it was Slice Shabu.

I was pleasantly surprised at all the meat, veggie, appetizer and broth options. Plus, you can either use a split bowl for two broths or your own broth bowls.

Service is quick; although we did come right before dinner rush hour.

There is plenty of parking as it’s in a shopping plaza. However, depending on what time it is, will depend on how busy the parking is.

I would definitely return since it’s so close to the house.

Service was sooo slow. Had to keep asking the waiter for our food to come after waiting for sooo long. We didn’t even order that much every time kind of ridiculous bc the place wasn’t even that packed.

The food was good though. I did AYCE. I loved the meat and the ramen!!! It was really good. The udon was decent. The sushi was good as well. The soup was also good.

So I called on Monday night and asked them what time was their last call, they told me midnight and they stop doing the ayce option at 11:30PM. I called them again to make sure if we come before 11:30PM would we still be able to order meat for ayce option until they do last call (midnight), they said YES. We got there at 11:18 and they told us we could only do ala carte because they were not doing ayce option anymore since 11pm(?!). When i told them that i called earlier about this, there was one guy server that said, “oh yea i talked to him that we stopped at 11?!” Like I wouldn’t feel upset and would fully understand if the case was that I didn’t ask them or know beforehand, but we asked them to make sure so that’s why we drove all the way there and when we got there they told us different?!

I understand that some restaurants tend to close earlier before last call/closing if its slow or no one comes in. The least they can do is to call us back and let us know, or they can ask us about our eta so they can tell us if we can make it or not.

House of Shabu Shabu is my favorite restaurant.
The meat is high quality, the ingredients are always fresh, and the staff is very friendly.
Definitely the best shabu shabu in OC!

Everything was great: the food, the server was extremely polite and helpful, explained how everything works and brought the food soon after we made an order. We enjoyed hot pot with beef, pork belly, vegetables, shrimp, fish balls, rice, California & cucumber & crunchy & avocado rolls and also tried traditional Japanese non-alcohol drinks. The ice cream at the end was like the icing on the cake. The prices on the menu are definitely worth it. Highly recommend to visit this place.

My friend suggested this place for dinner ! I had never tried the Irvine location. But I was really grateful this one opened in Anaheim.

Overall, the shabu shabu ‍ selections were pretty delicious ! We chose the House Special broth, which was really tasty !

The waiters were pretty attentive and checked on us! The restaurant itself also had a comfy ☺️ and casual ambiance for great conversation with family and friends !

However, according to my two friends who have been here before, they remembered (but after our 90-minute sit-down time was over) that we were supposed to get complimentary ice cream at the end of our dinner. It seems like the staff forgot to give this to us.

We would still come back ! But for sure, we will remember to remind the staff about our ice cream !

My wife and I frequent this place quite a bit. We like to sit at the bar. It looks like a diner converted for shabu with all the hot plates. What it lacks in atmosphere is makes up for with quality and prices. Both are competitive for sure. The place is pretty clean other than the occasional empty cardboard box from produce in the kitchen walkway. I can appreciate the staff, its usually 2 people running all the food and taking care of customers, so they might be blazing past you, but they will stop on a dime if you’re in earshot. Its a fast paced place you could spend hours at. A little bigger than a hole in the wall, but no less a gem. It’s usually busy and its easy to see why. Limited seating and great prices for great food keeps the door bell ringing with new and ready willing buyers. A favorite of mine. I hope you enjoy.

This is the 2nd time we patron them. Both times we were a group of 3.

The last time we accepted bar seating to avoid the long wait that kept getting extended and although we had been in queue for 45 minutes, arrived and waited 20 minutes after being told a table would be available in 20… When we checked in at 20 they said bar seating was available now or it would be another 10 for a table… Although we were almost sure walk-ins were being seated before us… we just gave in to bar seating. Food was good, but the bar heating plates are awkwardly set, they did not check in on us, and kept forgetting what we ordered. What food and ingredients did arrive were high quality and delicious.

But today we did not mind waiting for a table at the promised time. Oh boy did they gaslight us and now we realize what was confessed to us by an employee is true.

Now we know that they have a strict policy about seating so I want to share it with everyone:

During dinner time they force odd numbers to sit at the bar or deny you service by dubiousness and omission. But they don’t just tell you, although they should. It isn’t illegal so not sure why they are dubious. They should say: we have a strict policy that we must fill each seat so no odd numbers during dinner time will be seated no matter how long you wait. But instead they gaslight you, giving you a wait time that arrives and passes, then they add more time, and more, and so on until you relent to sit at the bar or leave.

That’s what an employee mumbled confessed under his breath to us when they saw we were upset that they made us wait nearly 2 hours from when we checked in, arrived, were told a table would be ready in 10 minutes but it was over 30 minutes before they lied about there not being a table again as they gave another table away to a party of 4 walk-ins for the 2nd time…

So just know, they do not seat odd numbers during dinner time and it is their policy as an employee told us tonight.

This is probably why their rating went from near 5.0 to just hovering over 4.0.

Thank you for the reply. There was no confusion on our part. We were told this very clearly and the action of moving the wait time several times, while party of 4 walk-ins were seated, spoke volumes about what was being done.

Maybe watch the camera footage.

Could be a 4 or 5 star, but their service is awful.

Korean-style AYCE shabu shabu restaurant where you order via QR code online via your phone. Table tops are small though – I wish they were bigger to accommodate all the plates.

Food was pretty good but service from every single wait staff was extremely poor. They never come to check on you or refill drinks, and the kitchen gets backed up and slow. They messed up our order more than twice, then told us we were in the wrong. At the end of the night, when we reviewed a copy of our entire order, it was confirmed that we had indeed ordered correctly. Not only do they not own up to their misses, we regularly only received 1-2 portions for items we ordered 3-4 of

I would def go back for the food but their poor service makes it not worth it. Also, just an FYI that they don’t devein their shrimp.
