This place is amazing. Head to Head it’s the best burgers and fries I’ve ever had. The people there were extremely nice even when they were dealing with a lot of traffic for the drive though. Reasonable prices GREAT FOOD

Rays Drive In has always been a staple as we would pass through Dayton coming from Spokane and heading to Walla Walla. I returned to Dayton and ordered Rays for my wife and I for the first time in years.
I love the local mom/pop feel of it. However, my experience was not the greatest. The food is cook to order so I expected to wait a bit for my food (ordered to go). My patience was tested when I placed my order. There was a new person working the counter and it probably took 10-15 minutes to actually place the order (and no, I did not have to wait in line). The ordering process was extremely painful. Also, the price for a “fast food” joint was a little more than I wanted to pay. I ordered two burgers, fries, tots, and a milkshake and it came out to $34!!!!
The burgers were great and the shake was delicious. The fires were average and the tots were soggy and below par. Rays wasn’t what I remembered it to be but for a burger place in Dayton, probably your best (only) option.

We were passing throught and decided to try Ray’s. I had the cheese burger which was classic and delicious. I love the sweet relish they add to the burgers. I also had the chocolate milk shake. It was thick and oh so chocolatey. The wife had the ham and cheese sandwich without the cheese on sourdough bread. The ham was hand carved with just the right amount of mayo, tomato and lettuce. I ate the half she couldn’t finish and it to was delicious. I highly recommend this place.

Food was delicious. My family and I had burger baskets and shakes. Definitely a classic drive in feel.
Down side was the service. Lady at the register seemed very impatient and grouchy. It’s too bad because the place is such a cute burger stop!

2/7/2021 at 5:25pm The girl that took our order was rude and the burgers were not good. The fries were mushed together and the buns were soggy. Save your money and go somewhere else. The pizza place up the street is way better service is amazing and the prices are good.

Stopped in on a snowy day coming from Dodge Junction. They seem to always be open whenever we drive thru Dayton. We were early enough to get breakfast or lunch. I had bacon and cheese omelette (3 eggs) with 3 small pancakes. You can get the omelette with hash browns and toast too. Wife had “special” which this day was 2 eggs, hash browns, toast, and coffee. Both were tasty and right off the griddle. Hot and filling. Good service friendly staff, and reasonable prices. Worth a visit!

Took a drive today to get out of the house. Drove through Pullman cause i didn’t want fast food and almost drove past this place. Sure glad I didn’t. Burger basket and fries were outstanding. A little more than I expected to pay, but well worth the price. During these times and when you can, support local businesses. Would eat here again next time I drive through town.

They charge for every little thing! From sauces to using a debut card. They even charge a fee to use THEIR OWN gift card. Burgers were good but princes are too high. The milkshakes are popular. We tried the Carmel and the raspberry. Carmel was great. The raspberry did not taste remotely like raspberry. No restroom. There is a gross portable potty outside. They do have a drive thru. Staff are okay. Not very friendly and an I don’t care attitude but they do there job. For a long standing local small town dive they could sure stand some improvements.

It was alright. Not sure if they changed ownership, but definitely different ambience than last time I was there. Our lunch, Hamburger and chicken strip, was a little on the expensive side $32. I know prices up with business trying to keep doors open, but we were charged a “dine-in” fee??

Historic old hamburger joint with quaint atmosphere and fantastically delicious, juicy, sloppy, home grilled flavor hamburgers! I’m not a burger fan, but I will stop here and eat everytime I’m in the area that is for certain! Love the friendly, courteous service from this family-run business. I can see why they are so popular with the locals as well as travelers. A must stop in Dayton!
