When we set out to open Red Oak Fillin’ Station as a restaurant in 2018, it was important to us to create a family friendly dining experience, a place that feels like home.
We had visions of families sitting around our tables enjoying all of life’s greatest moments, all while enjoying our food, and that it just what has happened!
We have created a diverse and ever-changing menu so the locals, the visitors, the young and the young at heart can always come in, pull up a chair, and have something great to eat.

The area and seating was very nice. Staff was nice and pleasant and prompt. Food came out pretty quickly. Was there at lunch on a Saturday. The only downsides of my experience was the Mac and cheese brought out to me had a hair baked into the top of it (it happens, I know) and the slice of chocolate cake was pretty dry-even the frosting crumbled. BUT! The tacos and brisket was very good. The waitress was very nice and got me a new Mac and cheese it ended up being very good! Fried pickles -the LONG way was interesting lol.

If you’re craving traditional southern cuisine, this place is absolutely the spot to visit! From the moment we walked in, it was clear that they serve exactly what we were looking for—authentic southern favorites done right. The menu was filled with delicious comfort foods, and each dish we tried hit the mark perfectly. What made our experience even better was the wonderful staff. They were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and full of helpful knowledge. Since we’re not from the area, we really appreciated the gals waiting on us—they took their time to tell us about the dishes and even offered some great local recommendations, which made our meal all the more special.
The food itself was hearty, flavorful, and genuinely satisfying. You could tell that a lot of love goes into each plate. Whether it was fried chicken, hush puppies, or flavorful sides, everything was cooked just right and served with a warm smile. It’s definitely one of those places that makes you feel like you’re enjoying a home-cooked meal in the heart of the South.
However, I do want to mention a couple of things about the ambiance. The lighting is quite harsh and very bright, which was a bit surprising given the cozy, bayou-inspired decor they’ve incorporated. The place was converted from a gas station, and the lighting remains super bright and somewhat alarming when you’re trying to relax and enjoy your meal. It wasn’t a huge deal, but a softer, warmer lighting would definitely enhance the atmosphere and make it feel more inviting.
Speaking of the interior, the decor has been given a bayou feel, with some interesting choices like dusty weeds on the wall in certain spots. It gives the place a quirky, rustic charm, but for some, it might come across as a little eclectic or dusty.
Overall, I would recommend this place for anyone craving authentic southern food and friendly service. Despite the lighting and decor quirks, the delicious food and warm staff more than make up for it. We’ll definitely be coming back next time we’re in the area!

Food was awesome. Had a hamburger steak and fries. Sweet tea. The kids had ribs, and chicken strips. The chicken strips were lightly breaded like they like it. Service was pretty good. Prices were a hair high but not bad by any means. We had 5 adults 4 children. The food was slow getting out for as busy as they were.

10/10 food, 10/10 service, 10/10 atmosphere
Was in town looking for some good food for dinner, and stumbled on Red Oak Fillin’ Station, and I’m so glad I did.
Ayana greeted me with a warm smile as I walked in, and sat me down at a table. She gave me some recommendations. She was so kind and helpful, and really provided a top tier experience.
I decided on the sampler to get a little taste for their ribs, brisket, pulled pork and sausage.
For my sides, I went with the brisket Mac n cheese, and the baked beans.
Everything was fantastic. All the meats were so good with plenty of flavor. The ribs had a perfect crust that was sweet and rich, the sausage was great, the pulled pork was moist, and the brisket was crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside.
I tried all the bbq sauces, which were all great, but the spicy one was my favorite.
The vibe in the restaurant was great – good music, nice and open, and just an all around good time.
I’m glad I stopped and would gladly go back.

Can’t rate service or atmosphere, because my food order was online and picked up in their drive through. Food was ready by the time I got there (15 minutes) and was DELICIOUS. Hand breaded chicken tenders were crunchy outside but juicy inside. The brisket Mac & cheese has great smoke flavor, and the twice baked potato was my fave.

Just a short drive outside the hubbub of Hot Springs sits Red Oak. And one of the best restaurants around. Walking in we were greeted promptly and found a seat. It smelled delightful. The menu had a great variety and it was hard to choose. I ended up getting the Smothered Chicken Breast with Teice Baked Potatoes and a side salad. My hubs got the All You Csn Eat Shrimp with Baked Pitato Salad and Cole Slaw.
The side salad came out quickly and had a nice variety of greens, no iceberg. Yay! And sweet cherry tomatoes. Nice sized portion, too. I almost never order chicken when I eat out, but this was over the top good. The smokiness of the bacon and the creamy sharp white cheddar worked well together. The twice baked potatoes were actually in a dish instead of the usual jacket. Made it easier to eat and just as good. Hubs started with their hand battered shrimp. He enjoyed it. But the grilled shrimp was the star. So full of flavor, seasoned up and cooked just right. Perfect. The baked potato salad and cole slaw were good, too.
It was our servers first night, but she was friendly and did a great job. We wouldn’t have known except we had a menu question she wasn’t sure about and she said it was her first night so she had to ask. She was great.
Overall, everything we saw go by looked good. They had mixed drinks available, so we’ll definitely take advantage of that next time. The price was more than fair for the quality and portion of food. Can’t wait to return.

Wonderful food and excellent service. We had an attentive and genuinely friendly waitress that was fantastic. There is music for ambiance, but it is not so loud that that your table conversation is strained. Overall, treat yourself to the fantastic food at this local gem! Edit 10/1/2024, I have eaten here many times, taken numerous guest here, ordered on the toast/local app and picked up drive through. Today, in the D/T, my order was ready at 11:30, sat for a while because the order in front was not, felt they should have been asked to pull around or come back. I did not tip for my 37.00 order. The girl looked down, saw no tip, and we when we arrived home, no utensils, no napkins, no signature sauce. I mean really, the drive through at McDonald’s does not get a tip.

We had a great experience at Red Oak Fillin’ Station! My wife ordered the brisket nachos topped with fresh jalapeños—loaded with flavor and a perfect combo of smoky and spicy. I had the hamburger steak with fried okra and brisket mac & cheese, and every bite was spot on. The food was hot, fresh, and full of that classic Southern comfort. Definitely worth the stop—we’ll be back!

I had the brisket sandwich and my wife had the brisket cheese sandwich. Both came with the homemade fries. The brisket is tender and has an excellent flavor. The fries are really good but were a bit cold. The tables sit in a large open A-frame type space and there is booth type sitting up against the wall which is where we said and it was comfortable. We had just come off of a hike and it couldn’t have been any more perfect place to stop and eat. I could probably get addicted to this place.

Steak was over cooked and didn’t put meat on daughters sandwich but they fixed it. Her brisket was very dry. The mashed potatoes came plain not what is shown on menu. They are dry so the gravy offered was needed. Part of the sirloin was tough but the rest was ok but not for the price. Fries were delicious. The pinto beans and hush puppies were good. They have a nice crunch but would have been much better with some jalapeños. Husband said his ribs were delicious, sausage was plain, pork was good and brisket was beyond dry. All in all $70 was NOT worth this meal.
