A wonderful community bakery to visit regularly. Our favorites are the maple butter biscuits, olive rosemary sourdough loaf, pepperoni rolls, and now the potato onion focaccia is a new favorite! It is fantastic…best I’ve had anywhere!! We are so grateful to have access to such an amazing local bakery that employs an unbeatable friendly and helpful staff of people who consistently seem to enjoy their jobs and interacting with patrons. Love going here.

Charming small bakery that specializes in bread and some baked goods located in Harper’s Ferry.

The bread was fresh and tasty and my husband loved the brownie.

Friendly service and a lovely setting in a historic building. Parking in back or on the street.

A few tables outside to enjoy your treats.

Highly recommend.

While in town for a funeral, my friend gave me a nostalgia tour through Shepherdstown, Charles Town, and Harpers Ferry, where I grew up. One of her first instructions was clear: we have to stop at Bolivar Bread–and she insisted I try the Pretzel Samosa.

When we arrived, I had a flashback to when the building used to be King’s Pizza. I knew the owner back then and went to school with his kids, so the space already carried fond memories for me. Walking in now, I was immediately impressed–the display of breads, the open kitchen, and the warm, cozy vibe made it feel both fresh and familiar.

The service only added to the experience. Everyone seemed genuinely friendly, and the person who helped us was chatty, welcoming, and offered some great suggestions. It made the visit feel personal, and I enjoyed the interaction just as much as the food.

We ordered right away. Along with the Pretzel Samosa, I couldn’t resist a Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie. The few outdoor tables were full, so we sat on the steps, eating and people-watching.

The Pretzel Samosa completely blew me away. I asked for it warmed but worried it might turn tough as it cooled–yet the very last bite was just as soft and perfect as the first. The flavor was out of this world. I often order Aloo Naan back home in Colorado Springs (with potatoes and peas), but this went beyond anything I’ve tried–the pretzel aspect took it to a whole new level. Honestly, if I could have a dozen shipped to my door, I would.

The cookie was enormous, and I nibbled on it for the next few days. It stayed soft, and the brown butter flavor elevated a classic chocolate chip cookie in a way that’s hard to put into words.

Thank you, Bolivar Bread, for not only the incredible bites but also for keeping the space cozy and welcoming, just like I remember it back in its pizza place days. With great food, warm service, and a nostalgic setting, I’ll absolutely be back the next time I’m in town.

Very cute little brick and mortar bakery with extremely pleasant and efficient service! Heavenly smells emanate from inside the building half the block down! So many interesting breads to choose from I have the olive and rosemary sourdough bread, which is divine.

We stopped by this place on our way out of town after visiting Harper’s Ferry National Park. It is super cute with friendly staff. If I wasn’t a gluten free person I would have bought ALL their bread, it looked delicious! What we did buy was a selection of their local gourmet groceries! I can’t wait to try my honey sweetened chocolate bar! We also bought some peanut butter and jam and iced tea. Definitely worth a stop if you visit the Harper’s Ferry area.

I have a new obsession… And it’s called Bolivar Bakery!! We stopped after a Harper’s Ferry hike and thank gawd we did!! We purchased a cinnamon bun, lemon & blueberry scone, and a sourdough rosemary & olive bread OMG!! We are half the loaf last night and I’m eating a quarter by myself for dinner. Literally the best bread I’ve ever had. I live 40 minutes away and WILL be making trips JUST for Bolivar.

Thank you for changing my (bread) life.
