First timer but I must say it won’t be my last time! Our server Nicholas was just amazing and took care of two tables with no problems at all. The lighting is horrible so that’s the reason for low light pictures lol. The food was so fresh and came out quick, but these drinks are just not normal!! I would come back for margaritas and appetizers anytime!

My husband and I finally got to try this place today after moving to the area. Needless to say we were not impressed. The service was AMAZING and that is where my praise stops. The chips were tostitos, the salsa was Pace, the beans tasted like they came from a can. My husband was also disappointed as a restaurant in south Louisisana Sweet Tea was not available as an option. I had the Taco salad, it was $14.50 for a slightly larger side salad with meat that was barely seasoned and tostitos chips layered at the bottom. I got some sliced avocado on the side and it was even ripe so it was hard and not good. My husband had the Chimine Changa and it was very middle of the road for slightly over $20. For our 2 dishes it was $50 for food that is done better at Taco Bell. We won’t be back even despite the service.

One of Lafayette s historic treasures, LaFonda restaurant has great food, hospitality and service. Enjoy your birthday there for a special sing and treat. Get your souvenir copy of their book, ” The Spirit of LaFonda”.for sale at the restaurant.

A Lafayette institution started by Lee Bob Cox and run now by his daughter, Stephanie. I think it’s Mexican food is great but I go to order fried chicken, which is off the menu item. It’s some of the best in town. This restaurant is a family favorite. Shish Kabob is also very good.

Tastes like a TV dinner scraped onto a plate and microwaved to oblivion. When we pointed this out to the manager he simply boasted about how well loved the place is instead of addressing the issue of very poor food quality. The whole place is a dimly lit mess with shoddy decor. The food is insanely overpriced for basically being the quality of Alpo. We each ate less than 10% of our meals and were still charged full price for a meal that should be tried for crimes against humanity. I have no idea why anybody eats here or how it possibly has a single positive review.

Was surprised to be served a meatloaf taco today at lunch. I ordered a crispy beef taco and a beef enchilada, instead I was served meatloaf…I asked the waiter when Lafonda stopped using the same ground beef that is used on the nachos? He replied, “it is the same”. I don’t think so!!!! See photos…

Disgusting!!!!

Come on Lafonda return to the GREAT Tex Mex restaurant yawl were in the 60s when I moved to Lafayette from San Antonio!!!

My wife and I went during the week after the lunch rush, and it was fantastic! I have only ever gone during the busier dinner rushes, and they are absolute champions of service at those times, but it was so nice to enjoy during the quieter time as well (by no means was the place empty). It was an opportunity to see the artistry and architecture styles on the walls of a landmark restaurant that I’ve been to since a child( now 45). The service was quick and courteous. The food tastes like the best first date you have ever had.

Very nice even with the dinner rush. 1/2 litre of the frozen sangria swirl was perfect to share.
The flan was very nice. Very consistent and smooth texture throughout.

First time here and I will be back! Our waitress Sammie was great! I took one star off for the lighting. Very dim and it was a little hard on my eyes. All the food was delicious! No tv’s, so it was a nice place for a conversation. Smoothest frozen margarita I’ve had.

The food was good. I had the 1/2 shrimp stuffed avocado salad and a taco salad. The atmosphere was great but I’m giving a 2/5 overall because of the service. Our server Kareem was alright, didn’t check on us much and DID NOT let me know that adding steak to my taco salad was going to be an addition $21.95…. I did tell him I was ok with an up charge for adding steak to my taco salad BUT I was not agreeing to an additional $21.95 for a taco salad that only cost $14.50. Probably will not be going back because of this. I am a bartender at another local restaurant in Lafayette and anytime an up charged item exceeds $8.00 I always confirm that up charge is ok with the customer. Very disappointed with this.
