Social Profile:

Johnson’s Dairy Bar is an established part of Northwood, NH’s history, with its roots going back to the 50’s. Although the Johnsons sold the establishment back in the 80’s, the family-driven mindset has always been a crucial part of the business as it passed hands. Family owned and operated for the past 21 years, Johnson’s has grown and expanded, with the current owners opening its sister-brewery, Northwoods Brewing Company, in 2018. Johnson’s continues to be a walk down memory lane with generations of families visiting each year for ice cream, fried seafood, steak-tips, and takeout, while at the same time providing new experiences. Check out our full bar, weekly events, and pop by the brewery on your way out for beer and baked goods!

Brewery/bakery is a great combo! Craft beer is always worth a try! We had the Loaded baked potato pizza!!!! It was so delicious! The wings are perfect!! Totally hit the spot after the beach- worth the pit stop! We were headed to the beach last weekend and made it early enough for French crullers! One had bacon on it, so good!!!

The lobster roll was great, followed by dessert in the brewery. The snicker doodles were amazing and the peppermint fudge brownie was like a next-level Andes candies. Don’t drive past this place without stopping in!

This brewery was very busy when we visited. The food is very good. Well worth the drive. We had several flights to try out all the beers on tap that night from the brewery. They didn’t disappoint . Its well worth a visit to try them out!! They also serve baked goods and fresh coffee every morning . The staff is very friendly and welcoming! It should definitely be on your list of breweries to visit in NH

We visited the brewery today at Johnson’s. The place is massive and it’s self seating. There were only two members of wait staff on duty and a very busy restaurant which is where the mid review is coming from as the staff was doing their best with what they had to work with but for a very busy Sunday afternoon it was very clear the staffing level was insufficient.

Plenty of brew options and pizza and a handful of other appetizers as well. We went out of our way to give it a try and I wouldn’t necessarily do so again. If I was in the area the staff would make it worth another visit. We received the wrong pizza and there definitely seemed to be confusion on where food was going coming out of the kitchen but they were doing amazing under the circumstances.

BAND-AID IN MY ICE CREAM PINT. I got cake batter ice cream because my wisdom teeth were just taken out and it’s all I can eat. As I get to the bottom of the pint I take a bite and feel something foreign, pull it out and it’s a DIRTY USED BANDAID. Absolutely disgusted it literally touched the open wound in my mouth.

As I’m writing this the GM just called me and the employee who we originally spoke too lied and said we threatened to murder her, so he calls and starts yelling at me. We never threatened them at all we didn’t even ask for a refund we just wanted them not to sell more bandaid filled ice cream to people. My wife took the phone while I was vomiting and just asked what the protocols were.

So they don’t take accountability, they completely lie, and then harass me. My daughter is crying, it’s 9pm when all this is happening. Both the GM Sam and the front end manager didn’t get her name need to be fired asap.

My wife and I went for a late lunch. She ordered the twin lobster which was fine the the amount of flies that swarmed us was unreal there were about 7-10 all flying around wanting to get to the lobster. I ordered the combo with steak tips and scallops. Again the food was good but it made It hard to have a good experience. I love it there but this time… Not so much. I mentioned it to the waitress and she kind of was like ” well we have the fly zapper on our back but people keep opening the door.” I just have never been swarmed by flies like that ever. I did end up killing three of them by the end. Once the lobster bowl was taken away with the shells the flies seemed to go away.

Waitress was nice but dismissive of the situation, food was good. Again, we go there once in a while so I will just chalk it up hopefully a one time thing.

Love Johnson’s!! Hadn’t been for years as we have moved out of the area. But glad to see beyond adding on the Brewery their food and serving sizes have not changed!! We got the Haddock bites, Clam Chowder and Onion Rings. Their fried food is always very lightly battered and cooked perfectly. Had a lot of food so we had to pass on the ice cream-but I know that’s always amazing!

Went to the original restaurant side of Johnson’s restaurant in Northwood today. There are two restaurants on the property: the brewery side, where they serve pizza and wings and, of course, libations, in a casual, clean, open concept atmosphere, and the original restaurant, where you can get a wide variety of food and drinks and sit at booths or tables. One of the people I was with ordered the three tacos plate, with one of each shrimp, steak, and haddock. He said it was excellent. I had a large garden salad with chicken tenders on it and honey mustard dressing which was also excellent. Another person had the Garden wrap. And the other person had a Prime rib steak and cheese on a brioche bun. The onion rings and fries were crispy and delicious! Everyone loved their meals. The service was awesome and the food seemed very fresh.

Stopped in last night (6-13-24) for dinner. This was my first time here and it did not disappoint at all! I ordered the thick cut prime rib with mashed potatoes and applesauce. The prime rib was cooked to my liking and the mashed potatoes with butter were great. The applesauce tasted so fresh! After finishing my dinner, I ordered a kiddie sized pistachio nut ice cream bowl with a waffle cone. I have to say this was probably the best pistachio ice cream I’ve had. If you look at my photos, yes that IS a kiddie sized ice cream!!! It’s HUGE! Such a great place, can’t wait to come back again!

Was a bit hesitant to try this restaurant as some of the recent reviews were pretty harsh. In my reading management had responded to the criticism and I figured we would try it out as the location worked well on our drive home.

Dinner on a Monday night had a pretty full house. Started with the onion rings and really enjoyed the homemade taste. Multiple items on the menu were out of stock and my friend needed to switch up his order because of that. I ordered shrimp tacos and waitress was able to work with the kitchen to make sure they weren’t too spicy for my taste. Unfortunately the corn tortillas completely split so that was a bummer. But the highlight was the ice cream – kiddie size is bigger than a softball. But waitress brought it in a to go container so there is more for later.
