Another internet gem. Found it via internet searching as I was passing through. Looking for vegan food. This place is super casual. Order at the counter. Get your number. Find a seat and with three heel clicks, your food is out lickity split.

Today I tried the, Grassroots burger. No sauce to make it dairy free. It was really good. I’d pass on the chips next time. They’re a little off and not made in house. I think they come out of a bag.
You bus your own table.
Expensive!
$25 lentil burger with a few chips.

I sat outside in front with with dog and watched all of the privileged old white women drama in the parking lot. Definitely Marin county!

Easy quick place if your passing through.

This placed used to be the best. Fresh, vegetarian, high quality salads and bowls that I would crave randomly throughout the day. I noticed their prices and ingredient quality have been on gentle slopes going in opposite directions for a while, but when I came in today and got the chicken soup, it was such a big step in cheap/frozen food land that I don’t know if I will go back. Sorry to see such a great concept and once delicious place fall so far.

Always appreciate organic healthy vegan food that is delicious as well! If you’re vegan, however, be constantly aware that they have dairy. The staff is quite knowledgeable, which helps, and always willing to ask the kitchen if they don’t know. The metal chairs scraping on the concrete floors are ear piercing. Try to sit outside away from the noise.

so yummy and tasty! The staff is friendly, the seating is great! This is the one healthy place my kids actually like and want to come back to over and over again so I have no issue listening to my children’s demand when it comes to this place. So happy a new tasty restaurant is in Novato!

A small protein shake costs $18 and tastes bad. I threw it away. At Nectar for $11 or $13 you get bigger and better taste.
The service is good and the employees are kind.

Such a treat to have a healthy alternative in Southern Novato without having to go downtown!
It’s nestled between Marin Coffee Roasters and Boca Pizza where the space museum used to be.
Great friendly staff with a lot of variety. I’ll definitely be back to sample the rest of the menu.

Really good. Great lentil burger, bbq beet sauce, quinoa bowl, and protein shake. Huge portions, fresh ingredients. And what a vibe this little mall has on saturdays. Live music, today’s was jammin.

I adore Active Culture! Finally – a casual restaurant that makes REAL food. Everything here is made in-house, and you can taste it. My favorites are the kale salad, the BBQ Beet Burger and the Bay Bowl. The Beet Burger is so delicious – they make their own veggie burger which is delicious, and the bbq sauce is made with beets – and it’s incredible. Their yogurt and shakes are also amazing, my favorite is the date shake. We are so lucky to have Active Culture in Novato – a true gem. Everyone there is nice, and I love the outdoor seating.

Great food. Expensive. Make sure you are aware of the “10% surcharge” they quietly add to your bill.

This place is fire! The potato tacos are fantastic. I got them dairy free. Tortillas and the rest of the ingredients tasted fresh and were well prepared. My only real complaint is lack of padded seats. Hard seating is uninviting. Sometimes I won’t go back to a spot. I’d make an exception for this place.
