Reviews
We began with appetizers, and the pimento cheese lived up to expectations. I considered ordering the deviled egg but decided against it after reading reviews mentioning the $4.50 price point for half an egg.
For my entrée, I ordered the burger and fries. The fries were great- crispy and well-seasoned. The burger was good, though not exceptional. I’ve had better burgers at Muss & Turner and Stockyard Burgers & Bones.
Tip: watch for unannounced up-charges. My companion accepted a few server suggestions without realizing they came at an additional cost. For instance, we discovered only when reviewing the bill that a large ice cube added a dollar to the drink price. It would have been nice if these charges should be mentioned upfront.
Since this meal was largely covered by American Express’s Resy benefit, I was satisfied with the overall value and would return when using the credit. However, if paying out of pocket, I’d likely visit for only drinks rather than a full meal.
1) I work in a very cold office building, I’m used to cold. The A/C inside was so intense I couldn’t even sit inside. It had to be like 60° inside. Luckily the weather was nice to sit outside but there’s nothing special about the outdoor seating area.
2) This is completely my fault but it was still off putting. I was meeting a friend for a casual catch up…so we decided to just grab a couple small bites to share. I chose the lobster roll sliders and at a glance at the “starters” section of the menu I thought it was $13 (see picture of menu, it’s a little misleading)…You can imagine my shock when I got the bill and my appetizer was $70! I asked the waitress and she pointed out to me that I misread the menu and that the prices was listed as “market” for the cost of the lobster. Even if I had noticed that the price was listed as “mkt” I would never expected an appetizer slider to be $70.
3) I don’t mind paying for good food. I could’ve shrugged off the absurd $70 appetizer if it had been good but it wasn’t. I had to keep pulling lobster shell out of my mouth because it wasn’t completely cleaned of the shell. I kept apologizing to my friend for pulling pieces of shell out of my mouth with every bite of the lobster slider. I ended up sending half of it back and not saying anything because again… I thought it was $13. Had I known it was $70 I would’ve made them take it back and give me something different.
Overall bad experience
I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the staff member (Alexandra?) was ever so charming. She mentioned she was moving on due to a location change. The best of luck!
I would certainly recommend.
The food was okay, steak tartare and fried chicken salad the highlight. The short ribs were served cold and the greens were too salty.
Our waiter was extremely inexperienced, he didn’t budge at my comment about the greens being too salty, interrupted us while still eating to ask about desserts and forgot to bring the fried tomatoes.
