A very cozy place to dine at. The food is great. Me and my friend had ordered hummus which came with warm pita. Chickpea flitters which were different than the usual falafel and i loved it. We also ordered a dish which was very warm n tasty.

The owner himself came up to us and checked if everything if good, which I felt was very kind of him. 🙂

Great vegetarian options with multiple choices in appetizers and 2 options in entrées. We ordered hummus, fritters and meatless moussuka along with to go cookies (handmade Turkish sweets which were not baklava).
Food was nice but the owner stopping at each table, talking about the food, and spreading smiles on all faces around him was the highlight of the whole experience. Will visit again to try other things on the menu.

I have to say, this meal surprised me a little bit.

I didn’t have any expectations going into Yiayia’s Greek Kitchen since I’d never eaten there. It wasn’t on my “must try” list. It was just somewhere new and we were bored on a Thursday night.

And every single item, every single flavor, every single bite delighted me.

Not just good. Not just great. But among the list of best foods you can get in Mississippi.

I made the “mistake” of ordering the appetizer sampler because I wanted to try around the menu… and boy was it worth it. It was freakin’ huge.

The Yiayia’s Mezes platter included everything – meatballs, cheese pies, chickpea fritters, spinach pie, stuffed grape leaves, pita, tzatziki, feta, olives.

We could have split that as our meal and been very happy.

Every item was wildly fresh. Super well seasoned. Nothing felt like filler. Everything you could want.

But I saw the cabbage rolls and had to try them.

I haven’t had a good cabbage roll since moving from Northwest Indiana – future home of the Chicago Bears – and those are serious cabbage roll standards. These sounded legit.

Oh… they were legit.

Super flavorful. Delicate. The cabbage had been baked perfectly and the filling was amazing. These rivaled any I’ve had anywhere.

Only us and one other family were in there. And this place should be sold out every night.

We will absolutely be back.

This restaurant was so amazing! I cannot recommend it enough. There are three generations working in the restaurant and they took the time to sit with me, chat, and make recommendations since I was alone on a work trip. I studied archaeology in Greece and YiaYia’s felt so homey, comfortable, and friendly, just like when I was in Greece. Not to mention… the food! My goodness! Everything, EVERYTHING was spectacular! Hot, well seasoned, and fast. I was in the area for work for two days and this was the only place I ate at for two days. ITS THAT GOOD! I want to thank Pappoús (παππούς), his son, and grandson. You made my time away from home less lonesome and brought so many good memories back up. I will return to Yaiyai’s every time I go to Jackson!

A friend and I ate at Yai Yai’s Thursday evening and we both were very impressed. We decided to go for an early supper at 4 pm and for a while we were the only customers dining. There were several take outs and about 5pm, diners started coming in. We shared cabbage rolls and pita bread and taziki for appetizers. Both were very good..for my meal I got the daily special 2 chicken breasts served over linguine with delicious marinara sauce! My friend got the chicken gyro with home cut fries. Hers must have been good because she ate every bite. My food was plentiful with enough for another meal. I will be going back to try other menu items! Yai Yai’s is definitely a jewel for Rankin County.

My sister had raved about Yiayia’s, so she took me when I came to visit for the holidays. It was wonderful! The food was amazing. I had the roasted chicken which came with the lemony potatoes. The chicken was flavored to the bone and perfectly tender. My sister was amazed at how much I ate. I’m looking forward to another visit soon. There are so many other dishes I want to try. Everyone was so friendly and service was quick, although you’ll want to linger. It’s as if you were invited into someone’s home for a proper meal.
