When I first arrived, I was a bit confused. Let me explain: the downstairs area is a beautiful speakeasy, and somehow we ended up there initially, even though we had reservations for the restaurant upstairs. We only realized this after asking the bartender. It turns out you actually pass through the speakeasy to reach the restaurant. Once we made it upstairs, we were impressed—the restaurant was spotless, and the staff were fantastic. The food we ordered was phenomenal! From the duck to the lasagna, everything was absolutely delicious, and the portions were generous enough to have leftovers for the next day’s dinner. I highly recommend this place! If I’m ever in the area again, I’ll definitely be back!

We didn’t eat here, but we went downstairs to the speak easy. Drinks were great, the decor is super nice and very cool. I highly recommend. I will try the food next time.

We recently went to La Dolce Vita for dinner and then found out about their cooking classes and took one in February. Loved the whole experience! Michelle (the owner) is wonderful and really cares about this place, she also teaches the cooking classes. The food is great, the staff really friendly, and the historic house is just gorgeous! I highly recommend this place. Extra shout out to Jared (in the 1901 bar downstairs) for telling us about the history of the place and for making me an absolutely delicious non-alcoholic drink (I’m pregnant) 🙂 Their wine list is quite fab too (they have Gainey Merlot!).

We enjoyed our meal at The 1901 during our stay in Oxnard. The NY Steak was great and cooked well and the side of mashed potatoes were awesome. My wife enjoyed the Stuffed Pork Loin, however it seemed more “topped” than “stuffed”. Her Caprese Salad was phenomenal and also the free bruschetta was super tasty. Not sure if our server was new but everyone around us seemed to be getting better service. Even other servers were being more attentive towards us. My wife spent long periods waiting for her Prosecco’s. I had the bread pudding for dessert and it was super good! All in all we had a great time at the 1901! I will also say that I was pleasantly surprised when we got the bill. The prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food.

Oh what a sweet life…experience.
Stopped in for an impromptu evening dinner. We were greeted promptly and seated outside on a warm summer evening.
What a beautiful place. This old Victorian home was built in 1900. The entire Heritage Square is so beautiful.
Our server was so friendly. She was prompt and nice. This made our meal even more enjoyable.
Warm bread and bruschetta is served when you order your meal. We started with calamari. Very large portion served with a spicy aioli sauce and lemon.
We had pasta. Alfredo linguini with shrimp. And seafood linguini in a red sauce. Topped it off with tiramisu! Oh my!!!!!
It was Friday night summer concert in the square. Fun to sit on the patio and listen to the music. Great classic rock & roll!
We will return. It’s nice to add a sweet dinner out to our lives!
Yes, La Dolce Vita.

Had a great experience at The 1901! I ordered the Blackened Salmon, and it was delicious – nicely seasoned and cooked just right. The mashed potatoes were super buttery and creamy, and the sautéed veggies were perfectly done.
After dinner, I checked out the basement bar, which had a cool prohibition-era vibe. There’s a big mural on the wall that tells the history of the house, which was a nice touch. The restaurant is set in one of several Victorian homes that were moved to this area, so it’s pretty unique to see modern businesses in these old, preserved buildings. Definitely worth a visit for both the food and the atmosphere!

Nice little “underground” speakeasy tucked away in a nicely preserved historical center. Stopped in for an adult beverage and ordered a smoked old fashioned. Tasty, not sweet, black cherry included, and very happy!

Great craft drinks, friendly bartender. Live band on weekends. Small but cozy. Nicely decorated to fit the speakeasy theme. Great place for after dinner drinks or you can order dinner and have it there.

Great food in an amazing location! My wife had the lasagna and I had blackened salmon. Both were delicious! The outdoor patio is a beautiful area overlooking the square. Marie E provided excellent service even though it was a busy evening with a concert in the square. Even though we couldn’t see the stage from the patio, it was a perfect place to listen to the concert.
