Do not go to this place. I left wanting a tongue replacement after eating here. I spent around sixty dollars on drinks and cakes, and I would honestly rather eat the cakes at a Chinese buffet. The drinks tasted like dirt mixed with white water. The cake looked and felt like it had been sitting in a fridge for what felt like centuries.

There are many restaurants that try to cash in on Japanese themed food without delivering real quality, and this place is definitely one of them. I genuinely felt like scraping my tongue on the pavement to get the taste out of my mouth. I ended up throwing away most of the drinks and cakes.

Avoid this place unless you enjoy regret.

Place is charging $10 for a “matcha latte float” which is a cup of ice, one shot of undrinkable, bitter matcha and a little swirl of soft serve ontop. No option for no or less ice. Couldn’t even stir the ice cream into the bitter mess of a drink on the bottom with so much ice in the cup. Worst part is, we had the same thing from the Falls Church location last week so we had high expectations. Echoing other reviews, drive the extra few miles and skip this one entirely.

Highly recommended for matcha soft serve. If you’ve been to Kamakura during the summer, well this is identical to the cha! The matcha mousse cake is divine as well. You will enjoy Kyo Matcha.

A new kyo matcha in annandale? Count me in. I went to this location because is it much much easier to park!n
Parking: they have a parking lot.
Ambiance: Very small store, only 2 – 3 tables so space IS limited. There are tables outside that we can sit at. There were kiosk we can place order at. Order came out pretty quick and staff is quick and friendly.
*Brown sugar milk cap: my go to order, always so delicious with sweet cake and salty milk cap (milk sauce) on top with ALOT boba.
*The hokaido cake is a bit too salty for me.
*matcha latte float: DELICIOUS! Would be my second go to order.

This would be a great place to come grab some sweet dessert to go but wouldn’t be a place where I stay.

PS . This place share a space with another store so you won’t see signs on top of kyo matcha.

Kyo Matcha never disappoints, and this new location is no exception. I ordered the lavender matcha and my partner had the strawberry, both were perfectly balanced and refreshing. What really sets them apart is the care they put into the preparation. They weigh and freshly sift the matcha for each order, which makes a huge difference in taste. Too many places premix it, and you lose the freshness and depth of flavor.

Having visited their other locations before, I can also vouch for the food, it’s consistently delicious. Great addition to the neighborhood and definitely worth a visit if you appreciate high quality matcha done right.

I ordered a towel cake to go on a slow monday night. The girl at the counter didn’t offer us a bag to carry the cake, which was a turn off to me.
I opened the box at home and the bottom was soaking wet…the crepe layer could barely hold the cream inside and it looked like everything was falling apart.
Needless to comment about the taste. I usually go to the location in Falls Church and this is the first time here… matcha is never disappointed… this location is! not recommended!

As a long-time fan of Kyo Matcha locations from Rockville to Falls Church, I had high hopes for this new location, but it fell short of expectations. Being a soft serve enthusiast, I tried the matcha/vanilla soft serve mix, only to be disappointed.

The vanilla soft serve was noticeably icy, lacking the creamy texture I’ve come to expect from their other locations. It tasted diluted, reminiscent of the soft serve you’d find at an all-you-can-eat buffet—strong on artificial vanilla flavor but weak on richness. The matcha portion was slightly better, likely because the bold matcha flavor helped mask the shortcomings of what felt like a low-quality ice cream pre-mix base.

Unfortunately, this location’s ice cream didn’t meet the standards set by its counterparts, leaving me hesitant to return. However, I’d like to mention that the space was very well-maintained and baristas provided friendly service.

I’ve been here several times but this time wasn’t great. They didn’t have any boba ready so everyone had to wait for their boba drinks and when we did get the drinks, the boba was hard and too chewy. The drinks were also mostly ice. Not worth the steep prices. The matcha mix soft serve was good.

I just bought it home 2 hours ago. When I opened it just now, it was seriously spoiled and had a strong sour smell. I don’t think normal matcha would have the sour smell of spoiled cream. And there is no production date on the box. When was it produced?
