Going to be honest. The food was nasty. I ordered about $80 worth from doordash. I specifically wanted Pad Thai and it was gross…..and orange. Why is it orange? Ive had good pad Thai both here and in Thailand and this one was shameful. The curry puffs and crispy chive were good. The crunchy noodle had a weird smell and didnt taste all that great. My thai coffee was pretty mixed unlike the photo. Thats not how it should be delivered. I wasn’t satisfied at all and wasn’t money on 2 entrees that I won’t eat. Luckily I added steam vegetables and white rice to my order so I won’t starve.

Oh my goodness. Visited here on a cold winter evening. Soup was a must. This was on their monthly specials, “Creamy Tom Yum Noodle Soup”. I love me some Thai soup, this was NEXT LEVEL! I’ve never wanted to marry a soup before but I silently proposed to it at first sip. I weirdly asked for the noodles on the side because I wanted to face plant into the broth. There is a creaminess, spiciness, slight citrusy flavor to this broth. It’s a complex and highly flavorful broth that hits the spot of the umami and heat.

Finally dined in after ordering takeout only for about a year. Their noodles and rice dishes are amazing! But their curries are watery. Solid price, huge portions, big menu, and a nicely decorated interior.

Edit: came back for a second in-person meal and I can confirm they’re just consistently amazing! In person I feel like the portions are bigger and stuff comes out quickly with good service! Highly recommend you come in person.

I have said it once, I have said it a thousand times, all the best Thai restaurants in the DC area are in Virginia. Having said that, Charm Thai isn’t bad, but despite it’s a seemingly above average menu that at first glance got me excited for nothing we ordered “wowed’ me. I had the standard go-to Thai basil chicken with a fried egg over the rice. My partner ordered his go-to, which is a crab fried rice (or some variation thereof), and we shared a papaya salad. Overall, it was fine but nothing was good enough that I would want to go back twice. Having said that, if you are craving some Thai food that is slightly better than your average Thai food that is designed for the “American palate” then do give Charm Thai a try. I do feel bad for the restaurant though, due to the construction on the street in front of It, I think business is down so I did want to support the restaurant. Give it a try!

We ordered takeout for January 1st and that left much to be desired. We had a fried rice dish with basil and pork. Overall very little flavor. We had asked for medium spicy and it contained zero chili. The pork that is suppose to justify the price is pork belly cubes that contain at most 10% meat, the rest is just fat tissue that nobody with a working brain would eat so was cast aside. Left is some rice and some string beans and a quarter of a tomato. There were ingredients for like 1 dollar and it was priced at 15 dollars. That´s a lot when the workmanship also isn´t there! Our mango sticky rice at 10 dollars had an semi-sour unripe mango and was a baby portion for the price paid. Our eggplant dish with added chicken was at best “just ok” and had a lot of excess water and some pretty dry chicken.

The thai place in Takoma (Kin Da) is 5 times as good at the same prices!

We won´t be supporting this business again!

IN RESPONSE: DID YOU GOOGLE “STANDARD RESTAURANT DEFLECTION STRATEGY FOR REVIEWS” TO WRITE THIS UP? A COMPANY THAT FILLS THEIR CUSTOMERS WITH PORK FAT CUBES DOES NOT WANT TO “MAKE THINGS RIGHT”, THEY JUST WANT TO MILK PEOPLE FOR ALL THEY GOT FOR AS LONG AS IT CAN KEEP RUNNING. CHILI IS AN ESSENTIAL FLAVOR IN MAKING BASIL FRIED RICE. WE KNOW HOW TO COOK. YOU MAKE IT SOUND LIKE YOUR OWN BUSINESS DECISIONS ARE SOMEHOW A HUGE SURPRISE TO YOU! 2 MONTHS TO GET A RESPONSE! READERS, DRAW YOUR OWN CONCLUSIONS!

Make sure if you order from Charm Thai you put extra spicy, because now they just assume nobody likes spice when it’s a Thai place? Just make authentic food stop over thinking it…. There is not a lick of spice on here and I can’t use the chili oil because it’s cold in the fridge.( I shouldn’t have to anyway) so I have to use cayenne pepper to add some type of heat to this right now, I’m very saddened. Hadn’t had it for months maybe even since last year (God had my back lol), but I’ve been eating here for at least 10 years now it’s too expensive for this; won’t get it again.

Really good Thai food, all 6 liked it.

I amyself got the vegetable mix with mixed seafood (but changed to squid only). I was quite impressed with the amount of squid it was just the right amount.

Everyone liked their food, one dish was a bit too spicy. And my seafood/squid dish were not spicy enough, a bit bland. It was good but I missed the classic Thai punch .

Our waitress were very helpful and friendly. She helped us getting the best possible orders.

All in all I would highly recommend dining here.

This is my favorite Thai place in the DMV. It’s very affordable and delicious. From the appetizers to the main dishes. It has a small eating area, but I’ve always gotten a seat.

We are Thai and we are pleased for what we ordered. These food are not common in the US market. In general, they taste good even some might not taste as authentic like home but we are please. For those common food like Pad Thai, green curry, fried rice and such. They are great. Highly recommended.
