Starters were great too.
Pizza did take a little while to come out. Luckily kids could run around the patio with plenty of room. Great servers.
We visited them on Saturday, December 27th in a group of 8:
– Stood at the check in for 10 minutes while the one waitress wouldn’t make eye contact with us
– Finally sat down, took 20 minutes to get the waitress. However, she did walk by 10 times and ignored us.
– I ordered a diet coke. She came back and said they were out of diet coke.
– I ordered a tea. It was 1/2 filled and full of tea leaves. I asked for a different pour and she said they were out of tea.
– Our meal took nearly an hour to show up. During this time, 8 other tables who ordered after us, got their food prior to us. Clearly, our order was never put in.
Here’s why the experience is a negative 5 stars. Again, I’m empathetic that they were understaffed. With that…
– They could have told us at check in
– There was no reason to ignore us
– If she had just said, “I’m sorry, we’re understaffed, I appreciate your patience”, that would have been a decent human thing to do
– No reason for her to be rude to us for asking for ketchup for my kids
While the waitress was rude, I clearly blame management. If you own this place and you had people not show up, don’t put your establishment in the hands of a single server.
Unfortunately, a couple things happened on my last visit that were negative. First, the hostess claimed they had no reservations when I had clearly made one and confirmed it via the restaurant website. Second, they seated my friends and I at a slanted table. Because of this, two glasses slid off and shattered over the course of the meal. They ready should not have a table there at all.
Service
The staff here are so kind and knowledgeable. Our waiter had recommendations when we needed them.
Atmosphere
Lots of seating, especially outdoors. Kind of like a bar type atmosphere.
Food
Buckle up and bring your favorite pizza partner like I did. We got the Staff’s Favorite and the East Coast. The Staff’s Favorite was also my favorite. By that logic, you’d think I’m part of the staff but that is simply not true. I do not work at Blue Ribbon Artisan Pizzeria. Anyway, the sausage and the creamy sauce paired nicely. The East Coast was really good too. Overall, some of the best pizza I’ve had on the west coast.
Dessert
This one gets its own section. It’s pretty bold to put all your eggs in one basket and only serve one thing for dessert, but I can see why they do it. The butterscotch pudding is incredible. Light, custardy, not-too-sweet. The sea salt adds a nice depth to the flavor. I’d go back for the butterscotch pudding alone.
Would I recommend?
YES. Do it.
