We are a group of 25 people participating in Abingdon twinning with Argentan in France, who came on a Friday evening. The courses offered were varied, the food delicious. The setting was very pleasant, the decoration of the rooms immersed us in the Indian universe. The servers were very cheerful, attentive and warm despite the pressure to which they were subjected because of the large number of customers present that evening. The atmosphere was therefore very friendly. We highly recommend this restaurant.

We are here last night for first time in a couple of years – we usually favour the other Indian restaurant in town.
Food was tasty at Dil Raj and good value for money. Plenty of dips with popadoms. We had veg samosas and onion bhaji starter, plus prawn bhoona and chicken one, one portion of rice between two of us was plenty. We couldn’t finish the nann bread so took it home with us. All that, plus pint of beer and large coke was £75 (including 10% tip).

I used to work at this place a decade and half ago and today I went there for a meal. It has changed drastically and for the better. The carpets been changed, new furniture’s and fixtures been added and given it a more chic vibe. The waiting area has been converted to accommodate more sitting where you can actually dine as well. As for food, I don’t know about the rest apart from the Kolapuri which is the hottest dish on the menu which I had. The recipe has changed completely and I wouldn’t say it’s either for the better or worse but it’s different and I enjoyed it and cold beverages out of a tap is something I always enjoy.

Had a large party for family and friends with a set menu meal booked months in advance to celebrate before a wedding in Oxford. The starter came out quickly, but was stale. The main meal took a very long time to arrive, people were getting hungry. After an hour all the main food was served, a few savoury dishes were strangely very sweet, have been to plenty of indian restaurants and never left a negative review, this was almost sugary indian food, have had more enjoyable supermarket indian microwave ready meals… The bill was over £1k, when leaving the owner tried to flatter us when I mentioned the service taking a long time by oddly trying to compliment our outfits, leaving another bad taste already there from all the sugar! My guests were very gracious so didn’t say anything until I asked later, they then did admit the same points when which made me feel worse… Thankfully wedding itself was fantastic. Would not recommend if looking for good indian food, or service.

I booked a table originally for 13 people however some couldn’t make it for various reasons, I emailed and informed them about this. We waited for 30 minutes for a drink. We had to ask for a menu then had to ask for someone to take our order, people was coming in after us and got served quicker. We finally had food after waiting well over an hour. Really disappointed as it was my Daughters 18th birthday. Hence why we didn’t tip.
