I tried the catfish, fried chicken, turnip greens, Mac and cheese, yams, rice and gravy and the creamed corn. All were top tier and the price was reasonable for the amount of food I received. I will definitely return.

Fantastic food. Loved the yams and the broccoli rice casserole. Fish was good too. Hushpuppies were a little weak but the cornbread made up for them.

This restaurant is located within the Legacy Museum venue. It is nicely appointed. A variety of food options are available cafeteria style. I opted for the meatloaf and it was excellent. Prices are reasonable and there is plenty of seating. In planning your visit be sure to check their hours.

“Absolutely phenomenal experience at Pannie-George Soul Food Restaurant! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The collard greens, fried chicken, fried fish, and macaroni and cheese were nothing short of exceptional – truly authentic Southern down-home cooking at its finest! Lots of Vegetables if you don’t eat meat. What’s more, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, from management to the team, making us feel right at home. Knowing it’s a black-owned establishment adds even more value to the experience. Plus, the affordability is unbeatable. Highly recommend for anyone craving delicious, soulful cuisine!” The owner Mrs. Pannie still works at one of the locations. Would love to meet her next time I’m in town.
I even meet new friends while sitting & dining alone. Great wonderful place.

I was so disappointed with my food; this will be my last time eating here. On a positive note the restaurant was clean. Now about the food. The fried chicken was so hard and dry. I don’t know what kind of seasoning they put in the collards, they were so nasty I couldn’t even eat them. The cornbread was crumbly and dry. The beans were pretty good. I was expecting good soul food and this food was the worst. It’s located inside the EJU museum so I would think this restaurant would be top tier. When my husband and I approached to place our order, the staff did not acknowledge us right away. It was terrible. They moved so slow and did not display good communication skills. We definitely were not met with a standard of excellence. I thought it was interesting that kool aid was a beverage option since that’s a staple in the black community. This is a beautiful restaurant but the food and service don’t make for an unforgettable experience. The EJI is a much respected museum that I’m very proud of and I hate that Pannie George’s doesn’t reflect a high standard. Do better and make improvements.

It was a good southern cooked meal for a cafeteria style restaurant. This location is at The Legacy Museum. It really does enhance the whole experience. I totally recommend dining here after you’ve been through the museum exhibits and prior to heading out on the shuttle to the memorial site. It’s a great way to recharge in between visits.
I originally wanted fried catfish, but they didn’t have it available that day. The servers behind the hot plates were very helpful in identifying what was there. The person in front of me asked if the dish in front of us was burger steak. It was an easy decision after that. That’s exactly what I wanted. The nice gentleman behind the counter came over to make sure that burger steak was served properly with all the onions and brown gravy. It ended up being the highlight of my meal. I also selected mac & cheese and sweet potato casserole for my 2 sides (1 meat & 2 veggie plate). The cornbread was recommended over the roll. It was all good, with the exception of the sweet potato. Not that there was anything bad with it. I just don’t care for molasses, and this particular recipe was heavy on molasses. If you’re a fan of sticky & sweet molasses, then this casserole is for you.
Other than that, it was a quick & comforting meal. We were so hungry after spending 3 hours going through The Legacy Museum. This meal hit the spot for us. The restaurant was clean, open, and bright. The booth seating was comfortable. Was it the best southern meal I’ve ever had? Not really, but it was still pretty good. I’d go back again. Hopefully they will still have that burger steak on the menu. It really was juicy and delicious.

This was my first time at this restaurant, after visiting The Legendary Museum. We went into the restaurant to grab a bite to eat but we was met with poor customer service, the older gentleman with gray hair , had an attitude like he didn’t want to be there. I know people have bad days , but if you know you can’t control your emotions to do your job don’t come to work. Needless to say we walked out cause the food didn’t look that good anymore after being met with his ugliness. But the museum was great. Service get 0 stars!!!!

Went yesterday for lunch & the food was horrible. I will not try it again. I had what I thought was dressing but they said it was chicken & dumplings. I tried the squash & zucchini…it was basically raw. The Mac & cheese was about the only thing that was decent. The cornbread was hard & stayed in the oven way too long. The buttermilk pie lacked flavor…very bland. The corn needed to boil a little more as well. Needless to say I didn’t eat 80% of my plate & still ended up sick.

I’ve been in Montgomery for almost 2yrs now and everytime I google soul food this place pops up. I’ve been anticipating trying this food for a while now. I work late hours and finally was able to make it in before they closed. The older gentlemen serving the food was very dry and rude. It was 6 but they close at 7. The selection left was dried out and everything look unappealing. When you tried asking him about what was left he said” you see it.” He asked the 2 ladies in front of me what you want. I was upset with his attitude and the way the food was presented. I didn’t want to waste my money so I left. Very disappointed I didn’t get the chance to try anything.
