I enjoyed the juicy grilled salmon at this eatery right by the sea – it was one of the three remarkably delicious grilled fish dishes I had during my 14-day trip between north NSW and south QLD! The other two I loved were at Bribie and Gold Coast. Not all fish n chips offer grilled fish option – am glad they have.

Very disappointing experience.
The food was extremely fatty and heavy on the stomach. For a seafood restaurant, there was barely any actual fish — it felt like 20% fish and 80% oily marinade and chips. Everything was overly greasy and not focused on fresh seafood at all.

On top of that, it’s very overpriced for what you get. We spent over $100 and were still asked to pay an extra $12 just for tomato sauce and aioli, which felt unreasonable.

The worst part was the customer service from the owner/manager. The waitress was kind and tried to help when I asked for sauces, but the manager was extremely unfriendly and completely killed the vibe.

Overall, not worth the money or the experience. I won’t be coming back.

After reading a few mixed reviews, I wasn’t sure what to expect but for me this turned out to be really good. The chips were perfectly cooked and well seasoned and the cod fish was crisp, not oily or soggy.. Thank you for such a great meal. I would come back again

Absolutely loved it!
Fishy Fishy is such a gem in Lennox. The food is exceptionally fresh — you can really taste the quality and care in every bite. The fish was perfectly cooked, light and full of flavour, and everything came out beautifully presented.
The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a relaxed coastal vibe. The team is genuinely kind and attentive, making the whole experience feel personal and thoughtful rather than rushed.
You can tell there’s real passion behind this place — from the ingredients to the way they treat their guests. It’s the kind of spot you look forward to coming back to again and again.

Best fish and salad I’ve had in a long time, light crumbed whiting excellent. Ambiance not the best as people who ordered takeaway seem to not wait around for their food inside, and the order name shouted out inside is not heard…maybe a speaker and Mike inside for the outside?
Aside from this, I even had the offer to pick the onion out prior to receiving salad
Triple yummo!

A very disappointing experience.
As most fresh fish meals on the menu are too highly priced (snapper $38!) for the average wage to afford to spend on lunch….

I decided to order the whiting & chips with a side of prawn cutlets to take away.
Once opened we were greeted by a peice of fish that clearly didn’t look like whiting at all it presented as had been frozen for decades, tasted foul & was coated in an gluggy, dry batter that tasted like eating an old thong that had been washed up onto a muddy river bank after heavy rain.
The hot chips were over cooked & oil tasted burnt.

We couldn’t bring ourselves to continue to finish the meal & after taking one bite we threw it all away.

The prawn cutlets were worse than Woolworths & the batter to prawn meat ratio was 80- 20%.

A complete waste of hard earned money.

We won’t ever be going back but I’ve had some success at the little old fish & chip shop in Lennox which has far better product & customer service.

Zero stars

Maybe the reality is that fish and chips is a bit of a heavy oily meal and there’s no way to avoid it! But yeah this lunch left me feeling a bit tired and flat. Also the fisherman’s basket doesn’t really offer a batch discount so you are almost better off building your own basket eg by ordering fish and chips and potato scallop separately, or whatever you want.

$19 for calamari and chips- 7 pieces of rubbery calamari the size of your pinky finger. Asked for sauce, no sauce in the bag when we drove off. Asked for chicken salt, no chicken salt. The staff were nice considering they are working in a hot box.

I frequented this restaurant/ takeaway store a lot, many years ago, so being in the area recently, I automatically decided to grab a takeaway dinner. Unfortunately, the food is not as good as it used to be. My salt/pepper squid was coated with something, not sure really, as most pieces were not properly cooked. Whatever the coating was, was not cooked insude properly. I scraped off the coating and ate the tube pieces of squid. At least the salad was edible. Not worth the money I’m afraid.

I paid 16.50 for crumbed whiting and chips. What came was NOT expected. A single soggy slab of fish and a small amount of over salted chips. Really a shame because it has so much potential and used to be great. Next time I’ll be going to the Bream Hole. Fishy fishy, more like pishy nishy.
