Absolutely outstanding experience at Buona.
The food was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you hope for when you walk in hungry. The Italian beef was tender, perfectly seasoned, and loaded just right — not sloppy, not dry. The fries were hot and crispy, and everything came out fast and fresh.
The staff was friendly, efficient, and welcoming, which made the whole visit even better. You can tell they take pride in what they serve.
If you’re looking for comfort food done right, this place delivers every time. We’ll definitely be back.
The portions are perfect and the sandwich is made to order. The bread is the star of the show—so good. I will definitely be back to try other menu items.
My only complaint is the Dr. Pepper was out but I didn’t know until I pressed it and it splashed everywhere. Also, the drink and condiment area was pretty messy and only one lemon left.
Plenty of people standing around talking vs cleaning.
They specialize in Chicago Style Italian Beef sandwiches, but they do have some other things on the menu as well. I’ve heard they are a legit competitor to Portillos (arguably one of THE Italian Beef restaurants) in Chicago.
I got the original, regular sized Italian Beef sandwich with sweet peppers and cheese sauce. The meal comes with fries and a drink.
When you order the sandwich, there are 4 options for gravy/sauce: dry, light, dipped, and baptized. Light is where they put some sauce on it, dipped is where they dip both ends in the sauce, and baptized is where they dip the entire sandwich in sauce. I went with dipped (which is what they recommend).
Overall, it was good! There was a lot of meat on the sandwich, which is always a plus. The fries were good too. The food came out pretty quickly too, but there weren’t many people there when I went.
The cons: they are pricey. My meal for just me (including 2 add-ons on the sandwich) was $17 after tax. Next time I go, I think I will NOT add the peppers and the cheese. I don’t think they added enough to the sandwich for the cost. One other slight con is that when you order on the kiosk, there is no option for “light” sauce. It was either dry, dipped, or baptized. I guess you can put it in the comments, but if they advertise that as an option, it should be available as an option.
The food was good, the experience was good, and while it was pricey it wasn’t too pricey. I will be back, but I don’t think it will be often. I look forward to trying some of the other things on the menu.
