The drinks, however, took far too long to arrive from the bar, which set a slow tone for the start of the meal-hence the 4 star.
The French onion soup was a highlight—rich, flavorful, and exactly what you’d hope for. The presentation of the dishes overall was beautiful and well thought out.
Unfortunately, the “surf and turf with creamed corn” was disappointing. The meat resembled pot roast from Cracker Barrel rather than a quality steakhouse-style cut. The portion was on the smaller side, and more than half of it was fatty gristle. I pointed this out to our server, and while he did bring back a plate with some shredded meat, he mentioned that most of what they had was very fatty. The seafood dumplings tasted like a boxed app from Costco. Entree was frustrating, especially for a specialty menu item.
Dessert was red velvet cake, which tasted like something you’d find at an all-inclusive resort buffet—if you know, you know.
That said, we had great company, which always helps, so it wasn’t a terrible evening. I’ll likely return, but I’ll stick to their regular menu instead of specialty offerings next time.
We came for the food and left thoroughly impressed. Our meal began with delightful Mill Milk Buns and uniquely flavorful oysters–tender and perfectly prepared. My steak was exceptional, accompanied by expertly layered potatoes with a delicate, crispy edge. My wife equally enjoyed the Shrimp Alla Vodka, savoring every bite. We finished with a shared dessert, the Fluffy Cheesecake with salted caramel and gingerbread cookies. Trust me–it tastes far better than it might initially sound, and you’ll definitely consider ordering seconds.
Service throughout was impeccable, matching the high standards of the entire dining experience.
We enjoyed a beautiful but rainy evening on the patio, it was still great views and very comfortable.
The wedge salad was great, so were the milk buns and the salted camaral cheese cake. I thought my pasta was a bit odd, but the people I was with loved their main course. The walleye was cooked perfectly.
Indoors was pretty noisy, may not recommend for someone hard of hearing, but outdoors/covered patio was nice and quiet.
Portions are tiny for what they charge.
3 rolls for $6?? Other restaurants bring a basket for free.
The atmosphere was great and the desserts were the best part of the meal.
